Quiet Sunday

The wind was stronger than the previous day. I’d carefully filled up the biscuit container to take with me then left it on the table. I discovered this just as I reached the beach track. Luis was not far behind me so he doubled back at the same time as me to repeat it all over again!

It was even more windy going over the rocks at the end of The Promontory but it was beginning to get lighter which is always a help. All except Skinny made it to the second meeting point. Skinny is always in the vanguard.

Walking to Plakaki was challenging to begin with as the wind was from the north. Once you pass a certain point, the beach is more sheltered. Sasha disappeared to find the rotting cadaver but eventually caught us up at the Plakaki Rocks. She tried the same move on the way back but I was watching her.

We rescued one more umbrella pole which I feared might become a victim of the sea then completed our second Promontory visit. The only excitement today was the parrot fishermen but they are used to the dogs although the dogs seem to have forgotten them. I needed to remind Sasha not to woof at them a few times but she eventually got the message.

We went back to Plakaki and then the final Promontory tour before home. Luis and I did a little over 8km today. I put the boys in and then made tea as I felt it too windy for bike-riding and I didn’t need to go shopping. Bona was disappointed I wasn’t going as she was hoping for a spinach pie.

I checked out the French couple the evening before and went to see the German couple with the motorbike this morning. We chatted about possible locations for them to explore and I sent them to the east to stay at Koutsounari.

I chatted to a Greek couple who’d rescued a dog which they had with them. They were in one of the small cabins. They come quite often as they live in Chania.

The morning merged into the afternoon. I wandered to the bins with some rubbish and collected up some of the electricity meters as I want to re-label them and put them in the correct places. They got a little muddled up during the winter as I didn’t really need them on the motorhome bays. Life is much simpler if you know which area is served by a certain meter.

A while ago I bought another Sonoff meter with an external display just to try it out. To begin with, I couldn’t connect it to the app but after an upgrade it now works as it should. It’s more sophisticated than some of the others so I’m going to try it out with the washing machine. It shows daily, monthly and weekly consumption on the display as well as in the app. Possibly a useful upgrade if more meters are required elsewhere.

I spent a part of the afternoon going through doggy photos as I’d promised Kirsti some pictures of Fido. By putting a caption on the photo, it’s easier to sort them out to add to an album. She tells me she downloaded all ninety-nine of them!

Other than the two motorhome departures, I had nothing to do as the wonderful, new receptionists are dealing with any tent and accommodation customers. They have Toni to take the punters down so just have to lurk in their ivory tower until the punters come at the end to pay. Easy peasy!

Let’s hope for no unexpected [motorhome] arrivals so a peaceful evening.

Warmer and much sunnier and windier than yesterday. Hopefully, it will calm down completely during the night.
