More Arrivals

The forecast for the day wasn’t all that spectacular but it was still reasonably warm early on with enough of a breeze to hinder the mosquitoes. There were not that many stars visible although Jupiter was higher above the mountains and the sky was already getting light to the east.

There were no huge excitements but the continuing saga of the deceased animal in the river. We are getting the idea that this is becoming out of bounds although I needed to remind Skinny of this when her appeared with a mouthful of something. He graciously dropped it when asked and walked away. I had to deter some of the others from taking over from where he left off.

Azzuro has left little piles of stones on the locations where the umbrella poles are to be excavated making some twenty-eight in all. It looked as though the first row was quite a way from the sea but that might have been my imagination. A small fishing boat was patrolling the beach in the gloom however it was possible to make out the silhouette against the sky. This little boat is often around during the summer months.

I went to Paleochora directly to the bakery and then to Petrakis. The sky was very threatening although the forecast didn’t mention rain at that time, also I had some punters who I knew would want to check out. I hastened back to the camping, fed the dogs, made tea and then went to deal with the punters.

A German couple with Vespa scooters on a small trailer behind their van. They say it’s the perfect way to explore without having to use the van. Their packing up routine is impressive as they appear to have got it well rehearsed.

I sent them on their way but hadn’t been gone long before I was summoned back to the office to greet some new arrivals. A Swiss couple with quite a large van, a three-litre Mercedes Hymer. We spent time emptying their grey water before putting them in bay 1.

I’d just got back from dispatching them when the phone rang to announce the arrival of a German couple with a slightly smaller motorhome. With the beachfront out of bounds I put them in a [potentially] sunny location on the middle road. They have family coming soon who I think will join them. He is a football fan so needed to be somewhere his satellite dish would see the sky.

Between the departures and arrivals, quite a chunk of the morning had been taken up. Perhaps I could have been less helpful and spent less time with them but at least both couples might stay more than a night or so.

I spent the afternoon grappling with an Exchange Server problem. Ages ago, I’d been asked to make changes so that emails would be directed to several different people. I managed to find a cunning way to achieve this but cannot remember how it was done. It didn’t involve using any of the normal user interfaces and probably involved some more involved, behind-the-scenes modifications. I should have made notes…

With only one departure and two arrivals, I need to concentrate on mapping out some more motorhome spaces away from the beach front. There are already tents in some locations and the small cabins will soon be used more frequently. It’s difficult when the motorhomes are so big!

Cooler than yesterday with sunshine late afternoon. There were a couple of very minor showers which amounted to only a few raindrops on the decking. There could be some thunder and a little lightening in the early hours. Tomorrow looks more promising however Friday morning may be damp and unsettled. Considering it’s early June…
