Kitchen Sink

Luis felt we’d all had enough sleep just before four so I was awake but fell back to sleep for another twenty-five minutes. He got the message about not barking. There was also rodent activity which I suspect may have had something to do with the barking.

The moon will appear once more this cycle, a mere streak in the sky when it finally gets up. Jupiter is higher each day but other than stars, there’s not a whole lot going on in the morning as far as the planets are concerned. The evening is more promising but that requires a trip to the beach and more careful timing. I’ve lost the will by then anyway.

We chatted to Frank, who had emerged really early from his van. The dogs settled down around us or mooched around nearby. We left to continue as it was just after five-thirty. A runner found himself surrounded by dogs as he rested briefly in the beach car park. He didn’t seem to mind so we continued to Plakaki.

Isabella brought both balls out for a walk but didn’t relinquish them once so the thrower got a good walk as well. We were back just after seven-thirty so I took some time for myself and my brain before riding to the bakery.

I’ve not seen it so busy at the bakery for a long while. A mother with three little girls was in front of me so you can imagine the fuss at choosing their purchase. The server was very patient as was everyone else in the camping.

I rode straight back to the camping as it was past nine and the dogs were probably keen for some food. The FIV cat seemed to enjoy his half-tin of cat food and seems to like the fishy stuff whatever it is.

I festered in front of my computer for a while then did some small jobs including cleaning and lubricating the big fan as it’s a little reluctant to get going on occasions. Hopefully, the air conditioner will arrive fairly soon so I can start thinking about that.

I hoovered around in the van a little and removed around 100kg of dust. I need to dig out all of the summer stuff and put away the winter gear soon so more cleaning will take place. I suspect the air conditioner will take up two of the rear lockers which will reduce the storage space. Those lockers are of limited value anyway as the roof slopes at the back.

My next excitement was to finally remove the grey water tank at the rear of the van. This becomes blocked occasionally so the water gets stale and smelly. I have no use for a tank so it merely harbours insects and other unpleasantnesses. With the water flowing straight into the flowers, it is always fresh and doesn’t cause flooding when released. It was not the first attempt and this was a struggle as the retaining bolts were seized. It is now out and there’s a temporary arrangement which seems to take the water away quite successfully. I need to go to see my friendly plumbing merchant to buy some alternative pipe work.

I shall have a wander to the kitchen to see what culinary delight is in store for me tonight. Earlier, I went across the field to meet Frank who had some surplus food for me. Sasha made lots of fuss as I walked across the field but then stopped. I found her walking beside me as she’d jumped over the fence into the field. She behaved nicely, ignored the dogs on the beach and stayed close by me. Having her collar on might also have had some effect.

Grovelling in the dust under the van will require yet another shower which I’ll take once I’ve completed my visit to the kitchen.

Cooler than yesterday by a couple of degrees accompanied by an easterly wind which got up as the day progressed.
