Power Trials

Petra gave me the last of the fassolakia, which was a generous portion so I had plenty to eat for my evening meal.

I watched a Perry Mason case then went over to YouTube where a guy was carrying out a bodywork restoration project on a 1960’s American car. He was a very clever chap who was patient and skilled in his work. He had access to plenty of metalworking equipment as that is his trade, but skilled and ingenious he certainly was. Enough to make me sit through over an hour of time-lapse filming of him repairing and refurbishing only a portion of one of the car’s bodywork panels. It was cooler around 22:30 so I went to bed.

It was around 25ºC most of the night but a gentle wind made it pleasant as we emerged onto the track. The Czech motorhome is still in the car park and Frank has had a Dutch neighbour in residence for a few days.

The walk was the same as the previous days however the dogs, particularly the ‘ladies’ were more subdued. The past few Early Walks have been quite exhausting due to their sheer energy. The warm weather and the amount of exercise is starting to moderate their behaviour. I took the girls out later with some balls and the thrower.

After a brief recuperate, I headed into Paleochora for a ride around to return to find people setting up for a group session. This complicates matters as Oskar and I need to come to an arrangement about him and Isabella barking. He barks annoyingly, she very loudly. I can feel some bark collars coming on…

I’d decided I wasn’t going to get up to much as I’ve been quite busy the other days this week. The Grid power was off from around eight and remained so until about ten or eleven. Various pieces of network equipment decided to malfunction when the Grid power was restored so I had to pop up to reception where there was a lack of Internet connectivity. Something to do with the routing table in the switch I suspect. A quick reboot of the switch and everything was working as expected. Maria was rejoicing in the fact that she [potentially] had only two more sessions in the reception. We need to actually see the whites of MARIA’s eyes before the rejoicing takes place. MARIA’s propensity to unreliability is well known by most people.

I’d just sorted out the office when I discovered a problem in the laundry room where everything was turned off and the boiler was having an event. I reset the main breaker, restarted the washing machine and coaxed the boiler into operation. We may need to consider a replacement part for the boiler as mentioned by the repair technician.

Less than an hour later, I discovered the breaker had tripped once more and this time the washing machine was having a touch of the vapours. It got into a loop with the door release so I unplugged it and left it to consider its future for an hour or so. The towels inside are well clean as they‘ve had the longest of washes. They are now hanging on my line as Bona’s at home and the Austrian chap’s washing has finally made it into the machine. He tells me he is leaving tomorrow to take his daughter back to the airport then they are going to wend their way back to Austria via the Peloponnese, Albania and all stations north. They will eventually get their washing however I hope they have other bedding for tonight.

The doggy rice has finished cooking so is now gradually absorbing water in the pot. I will serve it up in the fullness of time. Maya, having initially shunned the evening repast, has come to the conclusion that it’s the quick and the hungry at this restaurant and that she’s not going to be offered an alternative. Bona was telling me how difficult she was to feed but strangely, now she eats what she’s given. It may be my imagination but she seems calmer now. Perhaps to do with a mostly vegetarian diet with no cans of meat to eat. Apparently, this is only what she would eat. The tin given to me when I picked her up remains unopened and likely to stay that way. The cats devoured the tins of dog food I had previously.

The day started warm with some wind which moderated in the middle of the day. There are now some gusty periods which will continue through the night and tomorrow morning. Saturday should be calmer. There are quite a few check-ins tomorrow and the weekend, as expected, will be busy. The group will finish its sessions tomorrow I think. All the accommodation and a good number of the rental tents are booked over the weekend. Bona will be busy!

Slightly cooler than yesterday with some wind which will continue through the night and tomorrow morning. At least it keeps the mosquitoes at bay!
