Comfortably Warm

Petra handed me a huge amount of Gigantes which I knew I’d not finish given the potatoes still lurking in the fridge. Most of the potatoes are now gone however there’s plenty of Gigantes for a rainy day.

The moon is definitely losing weight and has only a couple more mornings before leaving us in darkness first thing. It’s amazing what a difference it makes to the early walk.

One car was parked in the beach car park and one pickup along the whole length of beach track from the car park to the river. The caravan, recently installed adjacent to the river, is still occupied as we saw one of the inmates heading down to the sea to torture some more fish. I fell over a strong line he’d attached to a convenient lump of wood in the sure knowledge that no one would be passing that way in the night, perhaps. Wrong!

We saw him just after six-thirty when we were heading back to drop off the boys. What a lightweight, loafing around in bed half the day. He calls himself a fisherman. The professionals are out all night as I can see from the little lights dotted around out to sea. I’m sure there are fewer boats now as there are fewer fish to catch.

There were no excitements or encounters during our walk so I set off with the girls to entertain them for forty minutes. Today, we had three balls. Isabella had two and I had a backup in my pocket which never saw the light of day.

We ran around and had fun although Isabella hung onto the balls suggesting she was running out of puff. Despite asking nicely, she didn’t let me throw either so we went back to the camping. I sat and played with my brain then set off for some gentle exercise on my bike. I was waiting to cross the road at a busy junction where Panorama joins the main drag into Paleochora. A nice Electric Company man is a large 4×4 held up the traffic to let me pass and go up and over Panorama. I’ve not been there recently but I had no stops to make so chose the longer route around Paleochora and to the port.

I stopped at Alonáki for a swim where the sea was a little choppy assisted by a persistent breeze. I was lying on a towel drying in the sun and was about to leave when I noticed Marisa and Kira a short distance away. Kira had found something interesting by the trees so hadn’t noticed me until I called her over. She gave me the usual greeting most puppies give to someone who pays attention to them.

Apparently, Marisa only woke up at nine-fifty when she was supposed to take over from Maria at ten. She arranged to start and finish an hour later which allowed her a trip to the beach with Kira.

The punters were quite animated and wandering around the camping as I rode through. There are lots of them as expected considering the time of year. This weekend will probably be the busiest followed by next weekend when the group starts to arrive. Hopefully, there will be enough people leaving to accommodate the group. However, it’s not my problem.

I made tea, fed dogs then finally got into the replacement router for Inter Sport. It’s quite difficult transferring settings as, although I can see the old and new routers at the same time, navigating them is not that straightforward. Nevertheless, I’ll check it out tomorrow and maybe we can try to install it early Sunday morning when the shop opens later. Hopefully, Ray will be working and willing to clamber up into the ceiling void to swap them over.

I had a nice email from the company to say my N2 (nitrogen) and other bits are on the way so they have received my bank transfer. The delivery will be delayed due to the holiday. I received a notification from Geniki Taxidromiko, another delivery company, to say my consignment of nutritional yeast and green stuff is in their system.

I received an email from Balance, the meditation app, telling me about additional themes to their sleep meditations. I only used them a couple of times and fallen asleep almost immediately. I was intrigued to hear the train meditation so put it on just to see what it was like. It worked very well and I fell asleep quite quickly.

Hardly a day passes when I don’t receive some form of marketing email through the adopt website. Today, for a change, I actually received one from a real human being asking of they could provided a guest post. I explained that the site has very few visitors and I would consider it an abuse of his time. I thanked him for his offer and gave a potted history of my adoption activities. His website is much more professional so he’s put much more effort in than me.

There have been a few clouds today to interfere with an otherwise sunny and warm day. What breeze there is comes from the north so has a cooling effect. Really quite pleasant where I’m sitting. It’s good that we are having generally cooler weather when parts of the Mediterranean Basin are sweltering in heat and smoke.

I watched a video of an 8m trailer home having its roof ripped off as it passed under a bridge on a swollen river in Norway where they are suffering flooding with countless people made homeless. The Portuguese are still fleeing from wildfires and parts of Spain are in the forties. I heard a news interview from Portugal where the man said he was leaving due to the fires and had initially planned to go on holiday to Greece but changed his mind due to the fires. Not quite true as temperatures here are cooler than usual here and we have no fires, yet…

Warmer than yesterday and I had my bed fan on in the night. The day has been pleasant with the occasional cloud. Still excellent beach and swimming weather as the water is still comfortably warm
