25 Bar

Gemista with potatoes was my dish of the day followed by some salad. There was a lot of Gemista! I watched more intellectual material about diet and sugar. Apparently, if you’re vegan, you’re more likely to be depressed! I suppose that could be the case as potentially, you might live a lot longer than others. That said, there are plenty of disgusting things that are vegan and not at all good for you. I suspect the speaker might have dumped the whole food, plant-based diet in with the vegans!

I forgot my watch was on charge until I was nicely in bed under my mosquito net and thought ‘oh dear’ and left it there. For some reason, I woke up at two so went for a wander outside and got a drink. I then put on my watch. However, the alarm didn’t go off so it was only due to a bark from outside I got up at 04:30. Another life wasted loafing around in bed all day!

There was virtually no sound when I released the dogs and I suspect I’ll get them nicely trained into a more sensible morning routine just as all the punters disappear. There was a little barking near a van parked on the beach track with a small dog underneath but that didn’t last long. More cars adorned the car park however we didn’t encounter any maggots or small tents and no bodies on sun beds either. A couple was chatting at 04:45 on one of the Alonáki sun beds but they’d gone by the time we did the Promontory.

Skinny got some incoming from, I should imagine, one of the Crazy Bitches, as it’s unlikely to have been Obi or Luis. He must have had something one of them, Isabella or Sasha, wanted so now he has a cut on his nose. I expect he’ll survive. Otherwise, uneventful.

I took the CBs next with the thrower and one ball which soon evolved into two balls, which was handy. They ran around madly until Isabella had enough and one ball was lost. So we went home for me to decompose for a little while.

I rode to Petrakis for some lemons but not MPCF (Moderately Priced Cat Food) as there was none. But I did buy rice and something else, if only I could remember what it was. I went for a spash around at Alonáki on the return where there were others swimming but no Frogs today. A woman with a nice dog amused me as I swam around.

I returned to biscuits and tea after a very hot shower. The sun was quite strong and had a chance to heat the water in the pipes. In deference to the punters, who I don’t really care that much about, I’m going out around nine, whereas, in winter, I’d expect to be back by then in case of departing punters. The ones I don’t charm into staying for months on end.

I received a call from a nice ACS courier warning me of the arrival of my packages which I asked him to deliver at reception. They consisted of a couple of brass gas couplers and my order containing nitrogen amongst other things. After a message from Marisa, I went up to collect same, see the most beautiful dog in Grammeno and generally make a nuisance of myself. Maria picked my brain about stuff I didn’t really care about although I expect it will be on my watch as it’s October and both she and Marisa are likely to be gone before then. In which case, I shall be obliged to put on my caring face and be nice to the punters.

I came back to check my pipes for leaks and found one, a big one where the large pipe connects to the compressor. Much of the problems stemmed from the fact I’d not tightened it down sufficiently. However, now, I’m better equipped as I have a torque wrench which is quite cumbersome to operate at strange angles using pipe spanners which are metric and not imperial. Gob Bless America! At least everything is either 1/4” or 3/8” with a US fred for consistency.

Nevertheless l took all the connections apart, applied Nylog Blue to the appropriate surfaces, then tightened them all down using the torque wrench and the appropriate settings. Much more effort than I’d applied when tightening them the first time. At present, the pipes between the compressor and the air handler are sitting at 25 Bar to see if there are any further leaks. With the number of connectors and pipes I’ve had to use I sprayed on some of my trusty leak detector Big Bubble product. I could have used detergent however that can contain chemicals which corrode the fittings causing possible leaks further down the line. I simply want to fit this thing and forget it other than the inevitable clearing which will be frequent given the amount of dust in the atmosphere and there are a few dogs too.

Once the pressure test is completed, it’s just a matter of some vacuum and then release the refrigerant gas from the compressor into the pipes. Then, we might have cooling, and heating for that matter however the latter will become more interesting in the winter!

The camping is, unsurprisingly, busy and will become busier on Sunday when 100+ Yoga Group members come to stay for a week. Once they depart, the place will really start to slow down as we’ll be approaching the last weekend of August. Getting rid of the punters will be beneficial however it brings me closer to the time when I shall have to start taking an interest again.

Conveniently a little cooler than yesterday but with an abundance of sunshine and no wind.
