Shorter Walks

Pasta and the beans from the other night so I was stuffed. It was a little later anyway as I’d been at the neighbours’ for tea beforehand. I joined the WestMidlands Constabulary’s Drone Unit for another adventure in thwarting the bad guys from above.

There was still some wind as I walked across the field but nothing like as much as during the previous days. We only went to the end of the Promontory and then Azzuro before returning to base. I did a little test and they seemed happy with only an hour or so as they seemed to veer off towards the camping as we approached the field. It was still quite windy.

I fed Moggy, dragged Oskar out and set off with the girls. We went to the end of The Promontory then to Azzuro before coming back to the van. It was about a couple of hours in all.

The sea has brought down a lot of shingle and stones to the Alonáki end of the beach. The little tables which are normally halfway up the poles supporting the umbrellas are almost at ground level. The umbrellas are more suited to dwarves. At Alonáki, most of the umbrellas survive whereas those at Azzuro are not faring quite so well. Only one remains of the front row and the sun loungers are scattered about. At least the Sea Daffodils are doing well as a result of their recent drink.

The girls seemed satisfied with their walk even though it was around thirty minutes shorter than normal. They settled down and hopefully remained quiet when I went out on my bike later.

I rode up Panorama to the top of the mountain. It was a little breezy as I came down again and went into Paleochora. There were no stops just a look around the town to see what was going on.

Once back, I fed the dogs and made tea for myself. There were some fonts to install for Inter Sport but I could only find very dodgy websites crammed with adverts which didn’t actually have the fonts they wanted. I sent a message suggesting they might have their customer obtain the fonts.

I put together the first of my air quality monitors and then tried to install the software which does all of the magic. The problem was that I have a beta version of OSX on my Mac so things don’t always work as expected. I spent a lot of time messing around and have decided I might be better off using Linux for the installation. Anyway, I’d had enough and I wanted to go for a swim.

There were a few people on Alonáki considering it’s a weekday in September. Several of the cars were rentals so I imagine there were visitors too. The sea was reasonably calm considering how windy it’s been lately but there were also some annoying waves. I floundered around for twenty minutes or so by which time I needed to put on the rice for the DDs. There was low water pressure so I went into one of the showers in the camping as it was just dribbling from mine. The shower cubicles have not survived the summer well so are looking decidedly shabby at present. Particularly the floors as the paint as been worn away already. I think it was a bit of a rush job and Manolis did really have his heart in it.

Much warmer than yesterday and less windy although it was still a bit blowy early on.
