1st Day Back

Eva gave me some pasta and salsa as they’d not cooked anything else I might like which was fine as I knew the end was approaching for the kitchen service. I went back, heated it up and ate it with the final part of The Tower. I read somewhere the end might not be as expected. I finished watching a solar tracker installation on YouTube then fell asleep. Some people understand the use of Timelapse when making videos, others just make you watch every detail. This guy actually set the project up all wrong so there was an additional bit at the end as he straightened it all out! Maybe too much detail.

The moon is almost at the end for this month so was not a lot of help as we walked. The large van with the dogs had gone and there was only one remaining from the many over the weekend. We completed the first walk losing Luis in the process. I put the remaining two inside and took Oskar out with the girls meeting Luis as we entered The Promontory. Luis was racing around with the girls and seemed to be enjoying himself immensely. I’ve not seem him so active in a while. Oskar keeps out of the way to avoid being mown down by them which is sensible. We lost and found the balls a few times then returned to the camping.

I went out at eight so as to get ahead of the day. I hate it when I’m constantly playing catch-up. I went over Panorama and round Paleochora and back all before nine which is the time I like to be back during the season.

I fed the dogs then sat down with a cup of tea. The plan was that Marisa and I would wander together around the camping to explain to the few remaining customers that we are changing over today. Not everyone was present so I went around to the others as and when. I’m not new to this game…

There were two arrivals: a German/Italian couple in a 4×4 camper who are in the spot near me and, much later, a couple of French girls in a rented 4×4 with a roof tent. The latter are only staying one night or so, they say. I’ve invited them to remain in the camping as long as they like tomorrow so that perhaps they remain another night or even longer. They’ve paid one night anyway. The

The Israeli couple left today as they got a flight back. The other couple with two small children are being refugees at present. It must be very traumatic for them but a lot safer for the children on Crete.

I went to the kitchen once I’d fed the dogs. Some were inside with the AC on which seems to be something they like. Oskar was outside so a little vocal at times. I’d been spending time chatting with Sonja and Sandra who will leave tomorrow as their flight is early the following morning. They will stay over in Chania as they did the first night.

Eva was at the kitchen talking to MARIA. She filled my container with spinach and rice which is one of her go to dishes, Sadly, the last for this season. MARIA was explaining the difficulties with her timetable and the age groups she’s teaching. She will have some new experience. She’s still unsure when she will go to Chania for her five hours…

It’s been a fine day with hardly any wind so the beach has been relatively busy. Sadly, we’re showing a net loss as far as customers are concerned as there were only two arrivals and three departures. There’s a French couple I must go back to as I think I can tie them into something more longterm. They are working from their van so might be a good investment. The is a single Frenchman next door who plans to leave over the weekend. Generally, there are not many French in the winter but then I’m starting a little earlier than ‘normal’.

Gaby phoned to check her reservation so will arrive on Saturday with their friends joining them the following day or maybe even Saturday.

It may take me a couple of days to get back into the swing of things after my long summer holiday.

Warmer than yesterday with plenty of sunshine and no wind.
