Tuesday

I went to bed after I fell asleep in front of the box. It was another quite busy day.

The FreeLoaders on the Promontory with dog(s) have been joined by a motorhome with dog, in the car park. Another motorhome, with dog was further up as well as yet another with two dogs. Then it was Cornelia in her van. The first walk was uneventful. No rubbish on the beach, waste bins overturned and spewing out or other misdemeanours. They managed to pass the outside dog in the car park however there was a little barking on the first encounter but none from then on. The little dog on the Promontory barked and Luis couldn’t resist replying.

I spent the intervening time preparing the DDs before going out with the girls. We walked up to Azzuro once more with plenty of ball-throwing. I had some tennis balls for Cornelia as she had a project involving them. We chatted a while then I took the dogs back as the Italians and Czechs were leaving.

I rode to Paleochora but my watch battery was flat so I skipped Petrakis and went back. The watch ran out all the same. I fixed Litsa’s CCTV camera then went back to feed the dogs.

There was some wandering around the camping before a cup of tea which turned out to be the only one of the day. I had a support call which triggered a reassessment of the server certificate at Inter Sport. After lots of fiddling around, I reissued it which is what I should have done in the first place!

There were a couple of arrivals and departures as well as a brief chat with Georgia. I was admiring the dog houses she’s purchased for the winter. She was talking about getting some simpler accommodation to replace/augment the rental tents for next summer. We talked about self-service for the restaurant to economise on staffing costs.

The Austrian couple by the beach left to catch their plane home. The couple who arrived late last night left to meet friends in Chania but are interested in returning for a longer period in 24/25. The Czechs left as did the Italians who were here six nights. I cleared the rooms and put the bedding in the machine. Mickey was the next customer for the machine then the ladies in the tent who are becoming residents.

Another customer from the past arrived. He remembered me and the dogs and even went out walking with us. He’s on his own as his wife and dog are at home in Germany. He will stay one or two nights. It was 2017 when he was here and he accepted they are many and I’m only one.

Determined to sort out the Exchange certificate, it was late by the time I processed the DDs and started to serve them. Then the phone rang to announce the arrival of a German couple in an old VW camper lovingly restored by the owner. They have a dog rescued from the pound in Germany. A victim of the CoVID aftermath layoff when everyone went back to work. They will stay a night or two but are interested in one of the special offers.

An English guy called to ask about the camping. He’s currently in Cyprus but flying here in the next couple of days. He plans to stay a month or so then return to UK to see his parents.

I bunged on some food and closed the door on the remainder of the day. Another busy day bites the dust.

Warmer than yesterday with virtually no wind but plenty of sun. Th sea was flat calm in the afternoon.
