Hardly Quiet

The morning came around warm and moonlit with plenty of stars. I could see the sea had been busy as the rocks at the end of The Promontory were wet and waves were still breaking on the south side. Crossing the Causeway was a more careful operation with Luis taking his time oblivious to the waves.

Azzuro was unsurprisingly deserted and the waves had calmed down on Alonáki Beach since yesterday. We completed our workout, returned the van and I started the DDs and put it in the pot. With Moggy fed, we set out around 06:45 with Skinny to chaperone the ladies.

It was The Promontory again with some ball-throwing and general racing around and swimming. The sea was a lot calmer than earlier so crossing the causeway required no effort.

I rode to Anatoli for a couple of loaves, dropped them off and picked up the Bank to collect some money. Gabi and Manfred were on my list but Helmut in B5 sent a message to say he wanted to pay but finally decided to stay another night and pay on Monday. He seemed surprised to find no one in the reception office at 08:30 on November 5. Sometime, I wonder…

I went to Gabi and Manfred then Jessica arrived so I put them in B3 until the others depart tomorrow morning [early – we’ll see just how early]. Back to Gabi for payment and chitchat. Back to Jessica to hear the tales of her run-in with a guy in Italy who’d tried to scam them.

He marked their van claiming they’d collided with them before attempting to extort money from them. Jessica was all in a quandary but finally told him where to get off. The police came and she made a statement as the culprit was known to them.

Later, arriving in Greece, she was scammed by a filling station who claimed she’d taken an impossible amount of fuel. The tank was already 75% full but they claimed they sold her a similar amount only possible with a totally empty tank. Sadly, she paid up and didn’t report the matter to the authorities. Fortunately, she kept the receipt! Moral of the story, always watch as the attendant fills the tank and make a video if there is any blowback from the staff or owners.

The remainder of the day was taken up with collecting money from Ξ2 and 6, the others are staying on tonight I believe.

Wandering past Ξ4 I found water spurting from the ground at the rear of the cabin where a repair was made not that long ago. I told Toni who dug up the pipes to reveal the previous repairs. I think the leak is in the irrigation system supply so shouldn’t affect the drinking water system. Toni will pick up a patch kit in the morning he says. It won’t be easy as the leak may be under Ξ4!

I had time to process the DDs and feed the dogs before dark which was a bonus. I just need to feed myself!

The day has been warm and sunny but with occasional cloudy intervals. Tomorrow’s forecast talks of the possibility of a little rain around nine in the morning.

Cooler than yesterday with the possibly of some rain tomorrow morning
