Money!

I watched the Cornish Detective who’s still recovering from the aftermath of a shooting at the end of the previous series. A double murder involving an extremely unbalance husband.

It was cooler during the night so I put a folded blanket on my bed with the heated pad to warm up the two blocks of ice that used to be my feet. I was soon asleep to awake around four in plenty of time for the alarm. There have been a couple of mosquitoes recently, whining around my head during the night. I have since found the source when I came to fill the dogs’ water bucket which contained some very lively larvae.

The morning was correspondingly cool so the pace was very brisk. The barking dogs were still present but we avoided them after our walk to Azzuro and back. Despite everything, Skinny still came out with the girls. It was still dark even after another walk to Azzuro and back to the end of The Promontory. Isabella hung onto the balls so I wasn’t bothered.

I rode to Paleochora for bread and back to prepare the DDs with some ingredients from Petrakis. There were no decent carrots and the courgettes were not only mortgageable but horrible. I think I was a little too early for a Monday.

I prepared the DDs and then fed the dogs before getting on with the things I intended doing over the weekend but became distracted and annoyed with other events. Fortunately, I made plenty of progress which was satisfying.

The postman brought packages from Amazon for Lucy and a padded envelope for Mickey who was with his little playmates when I delivered it.

I had an exchange of emails with Judy from RSH as her email stopped working. Sadly, her dog barney had to be terminated last week so they’re getting over it.

Georgia was poking around in the workshop looking for stuff to spray on the bushes as there are pests. I mentioned the leaking water from the big tank above the bathrooms. Later, she showed me her ‘new’ car, a Volvo with a plug and lots of gadgets as well as an app so you can drive the car from the comfort of your armchair. She promised me a ride at some point. She’s smitten by the silence but I never expected her to be remotely interested in an electric vehicle of any kind. I made admiring noises and listened carefully for the silence as she left to get this year’s oil from the mill.

Bona came to clean the bathrooms and I told her about M7 and Ξ4. The sheets I washed on the timer this morning before putting on a wash for Lucy. No ‘L’, her smallest was there and showed interest in learning English so we did a quick session on parts of the body seeing as we had some props handy. He seems quite motivated for an eleven-year-old. Pushing him on might help him compete with his elder siblings if he can get better at English than them.

Jamie came bearing 140€ after me badgering him for the past three weeks to get his act together. There is still 160€ to go before the end of the week. My ultimatum may have concentrated the mind also locking the door to the common room where he likes to spend his time. He plans to go back to England for Christmas as his parents are there.

I had a chat with Patrick, Jessica’s other half, who arrived just as it got cold. He said he went to the hammock with a blanket quite early this morning to find himself surrounded by pussy hot water bottles before very long. They are talking to coming for Christmas! I said they could leave the van at the top of the camping. Flying is quicker and cheaper.

A much better day than yesterday.

A quite cool night and early morning which turned into a much warmer, sunny day
