Monday

It was chilly once the sun went down behind the carob tree and the storeroom, even chillier than the afternoon when I found myself wanting to be inside with the heating on.

The heating works as I’d hoped and I played around with some of the settings to tailor my heating experience. For reference, I left the heating at 17ºC all night long just to see how many times it might fire up. I could see by the usage on the meter that it didn’t come on that often.

I watched, amongst other things, an American series about a company cloning the IBM PC. It was sufficiently interesting for me to watch two episodes in a row before eventually retiring to bed.

Luis and Maya spent the night outside. There is now an array of sleeping options on the decking. The large dog bed which I believe Luis occupied, at least at first. A couple of dog blankets are also spread over the carpet. The carpeted area is sheltered from any rain and reasonably protected from the rain.

The morning was moonlit but chilly and thankfully windless. The lagoon has shrunk back to more manageable proportions and we were able to cross the rocks and the causeway without risking life and limb.

We completed the first walk well before six and were out again just after. Skinny decided the inside of the van in the warm was preferable to trudging to Azzuro and back once more. I gave the girls a good run for their money as they were shortchanged due to the rain so had the same walks as the others. Isabella excelled in finding her ball on every occasion despite my attempts to make things as difficult as possible.

I had to charge my watch before leaving for Paleochora for bread and groceries. A package had been delivered to Anatoli which they didn’t seem to be able to find when I asked for it on Saturday but they gave it to me today. Petrakis was quiet so I took the opportunity to go in there in case there is too much weather during the next couple of days. I now have food and plenty for the DDs.

I took bread to Lucy and Franz leaving the package for Mickey to find. Later, the postman called to drop off three packages: the tea which I ordered for Franz, another item for Mickey and some Christmas gifts from Lucy’s family in The Netherlands. She was going out so Kevin and his wife were looking after Betty.

I wandered the camping a little showing Jamie where he might find some wood to supply the stove in the Common Room. I introduced him to the ‘storage’ area AKA general dumping area at the top of the camping.

I upgraded weather.grammeno.eu so that we can now use php 8 which is a bit of a bonus as it’s a major upgrade. There was a support call from Wisdom Sports about the WiFi and that was about it until Bona came in to check the loos and kitchen. She didn’t have any keys so I opened and closed for her.

It became chilly once the sun set and the dogs had decided it was supper time anyway. I fed them then and Moggy then we eventually retired inside with the heating.

All of the dogs are inside at present so navigating the floor will be even more of a challenge with three large dogs sprawled over it. I suspect Maya will soon withdraw outside as I think she finds it too claustrophobic and warm inside.

A chilly but moonlit start to the day which turned out to be windless, sunny and warm but not hot. It’s likely to be wet in the night and tomorrow morning. I’m hoping that perhaps it might decide to rain later in the day as this would be more convenient for me at least.
