One Out, One in

A trip to Yorkshire to be with the brave policemen in Heartbeat. This episode dealt with an unexploded WWII bomb and two deaths as well as evacuation of the village populous to a neighbouring convent where Greengrass was forced into taking a bath. I munched a salad whilst being entertained. Followed by a visit to Gwent to see the police at work investigating a couple of fatal RTIs. All very interesting.

The night passed almost uninterruptedly other than a brief outburst from Maya who managed to shut up when asked. Maybe her previous experience with a collar helped her to decide.

The morning was fresh but clear with only one, large, motorhome with a trailer parked on the beach track to the north of the access road. I thought it must be an interesting drive on Crete and the various ferries.

The dogs were together as I checked on them to make sure they were with me. Lucia noted Skinny ate Betty’s food then scarpered. Even Luis was getting it together although Maya found something nasty to eat so left my side for a little while.

The girls chased the GITD ball with alacrity as it seems to be a favourite when it’s too dark otherwise. The lady from the big van and trailer had a visit from the dogs when she emerged from the van on our way back down the track.

I rode to Paleochora to get bread then back with the wind behind me. I delivered bread to Lucia who cut the loaf as usual. It was just the two of us this morning.

I fed the dogs having put Lucia’s washing into the machine. Just a quick cup of tea and then off to collect money. There was one departure and then the Spanish to see as they were contemplating a departure. I told them what they owed and stuck around for a little while. I finally went back to the dogs before being called away to welcome a German couple who are now opposite the outside showers by the main bathroom. They plan to stay for Christmas.

I decided to get a shower even though it’s not yet Christmas but was intercepted by the Swiss couple with the van and trailer we’d seen earlier. I toured the camping with them and they will come tomorrow so they say. I mentioned they’d already met the four dogs on the second walk. They have some of their own and have met the Slovenians’ dogs too.

I finally made it to the shower, prepared some φακες and then fed the dogs who were waiting fairly patiently.

A quiet evening hopefully. It’s damp and cooler outside so I’ll be brief when I collect my supper from the pot in a moment.

Warmer than yesterday with little wind during the day. Sunny and very pleasant sitting in the sun out of the wind. The forecast is still for rain tomorrow night and early Thursday morning.
