Wednesday

Hercule had a difficult couple of murders to solve, one committed a while before. Nevertheless, he got his man like the Mounties. I fell asleep after watching As Time Goes By even though the YouTube documentary was very interesting.

The morning was still and quite mild with plenty of stars in a clear sky. I saw the occasional meteor too. We completed the first walk with the loss of only one dog who’d found a riveting bone which she was chewing.

Maya joined us at the start of the second walk bringing with her the distraction of the bone. I explained to Isabella she needed to make a choice between ball or bone. Naturally, being the dog she is, she wanted both but managed to prioritise the ball until she became tired. I eventually chucked the dinosaur bone in the sea as it was too much of a distraction and caused far more trouble than it was worth.

I stopped at Petrakis after my visit to Anatoli. Broccoli is now €4.40kg! Needless to say, I didn’t buy any.

I got on with the DDs once I’d fed the dogs. I discovered someone had helped themselves to the chicken legs I put in the DDs as they were no longer in the freezer. I’m investigating…

The Swiss couple were up early and packing up. Apparently, they’d not slept well stating it was because they were leaving. They’d transferred the money for their stay to my bank the previous night which was considerate as it arrived just after their departure. They might come back next winter but want to be home before the New Year.

Joyce told me there was an injured cat she was looking for but nowhere to be found. Lucia went shopping in Paleochora leaving Betty with Kevin. She had a good time as there was plenty of activity with the Swiss girls packing up and saying goodbye.

I put my bike into the storeroom as it started to rain and put the Sun Blocker back as it does a good job preventing the rain driving under the awning. I don’t seem to have made progress in sorting out the awning sides as yet.

Instead, I disposed of some rubbish having started to clear out my storage cupboard formerly known as the bathroom. A job long overdue due to rodent activity during the summer. The rodents are long gone however evidence of their visit remains. There is still more cleaning to do but it’s at least better and another job from my extensive list.

There was the DDs to process as time marched by and the dogs were anxious to eat for some unexplainable reason.

I can hear rain falling once again and more is threatened for the night and early morning.

I understand it’s Christmas Day on Monday and the Winter Solstice the day after tomorrow. Yippee!

Cooler than yesterday with some occasional wind and rain. The day was overcast but not cold. More rain is forecast for the evening and early morning. The weather is changeable at present.
