That Boiler Again

Heavy rain in the evening made TV watching quite difficult at times, even with the volume on high. I was watching Line Of Duty series 6 which is in the iPlayer archives for a year or more. It seems the BBC is less fastidious about VPNs at present as I don’t seem to have much problem connecting.

There was some thunder and lightning to accompany the rain, causing unease amongst the doggies. The rain continued until bed time. I decided I needed to have a deep contemplation however the rain was pattering down on the loo, driven by the wind. I disconnected the aforementioned from its 12V electrical supply for the fan and the external vent pipe and moved it to a location where there was less rain. Unsurprisingly, my period of ‘contemplation’ was briefer than perhaps other times.

The rain was pattering on the roof as the alarm sounded so I cancelled that and turned off the decking light which comes on automatically. Isn’t home automation so useful! It was around seven-forty five when the rain finally almost stopped so I got up to walk the dogs.

Our walk was almost the same length as usual but there was no additional walk for the girls. The river had dug a deep ravine in the beach about one metre deep. The dogs had huge fun playing in the muddy river and Obi became a two-tone dog. I’ve just brushed off all the sand and much he deposited on my cushion as he dried off.

I came back from the walk, fed them and then into the camping to turn on power and see what was what. The boiler had tripped out all of the power in the laundry room as the external pump suffered a water ingress and shorted. This meant no Internet connection for all except the top of the camping near the reception. I isolated the pump and restored power then thought I’d persuaded the boiler back to life. After all, it’s only a few days since it last had technician intervention.

I wandered the remainder of the camping making sure circuits were working and everything was in order. There was 20mm of rain in the evening and a further 14mm after midnight.

There was an arrival in the form of a Swede from the north of Sweden who plans to use the camping as a base for his travels. I was aware of his impending arrival due to other punters telling me.

I finally went back to the dogs for a cup of tea having given Georgia good news about the boiler. I was called out again to collect money from the Spanish family and also by Bona who wanted a Cold One. This coincided with the arrival of the son of the plumbing/heating/electrical family who’d ‘come to fix the boiler’. Georgia came to give him a piece of her mind. All of which I was able to enjoy thanks to the camera which has sound and a microphone. The boiler has not been fixed so another company has been called out to come to service it but in two days time. Meanwhile, we’re back to heating the water electrically which will send shivers down Georgia’s back at the thought of the electricity bill.

I went back to feed dogs and cats as Moggy didn’t get fed this morning.

There is the blue pickup, Maria’s car and one other outside the Royal Residence. Georgia plans to stay over Christmas so I should imagine there will be a meal there or at Martha’s on Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, it’s 18.4ºC in here thanks to the dogs but I’ll probably top that up with a little additional ECO heating from the AC.

A wet and late start to the day due to rain. Showers and sunshine in the afternoon. Possibility of some rain tomorrow late afternoon. The weather is more stable until Christmas Day.
