Thursday

Jack was winding up the army by interfering with their ‘accident’ investigation which turned out to be murder by accident. The crack shot missed his intended target and killed a bystander complicating the deduction process. Jack’s heavenly stay with rooms above the local curry house come to an end when his mere presence puts off the clientele. In compensation, he proves a string of security van heists are an inside job.

I stumbled upon an interesting documentary entitled Under The Devil’s Punchbowl which turned out to be a story very close to my heart. The planning and construction of the Hindhead Tunnel in which I was closely acquainted seeing as my house was near to the tunnel, and the tunnel works included some of my regular dog-walking routes. I was able to have a grandstand view of progress and daily updates from walking and sometimes talking with tunnel workers or members of the security team. The project also increased the value of my house, as hoped, once the works were completed and the landscaping had matured. Further viewing included an interesting domestic electrical installation and upgrade as well as some YouTube shorts.

I got everyone out earlier and joined forces, quite by chance, with Brian, the English guy with the Vizsla who happened to be entering the car park from the other end with his dog. We joined forces and walked The Promontory and to Azzuro and back together. At this point, he felt the need for tea and his dog a rest from being with so many other crazy animals. The second walk was with Nina and her female bear as now she finds it too hard to walk the bears together with the bitch on heat. Nevertheless, Skinny did his best, and the bitch didn’t seem to be trying to push him away. Maybe she knew he was only firing blanks!

I rode to Paleochora for bread and a visit to Petrakis for a couple of items which turned into a more elaborate shop. Upon my return, I collected money from Dave from Souda base who works with Tim, shared bread with Lucia and took the wash to the couple who’d called before I went into town.

It was then an eventual matter of feeding the dogs, making tea then sitting in the sun. There were Big Black Beans to cook for later as well as more tea. Having spent days not really feeling very hungry, I’m making up for lost time. I’m soaking chickpeas for a salad tomorrow which I will cook once the DDs are done. Just a matter of getting organised.

The weather was mostly warm and sunny however cloudier than yesterday providing 7.3kWh of PV and 4.5kWh of battery charge. There was quite a bit of cooking today too.

Slightly cooler than yesterday although the morning was incredibly mild as I was walking without hat with my jacket open. There were some cloudy intervals which took some of the edge off the temperature. Friday is looking sunny but Saturday quite cloudy with Sunday threatening some rain. But then it’s only Thursday right now.
