The gripping final episode of Vigil was a fine culmination for the first season with a good mixture to keep most viewers interested. I shall embark on the second season quite soon. I watched The Good Karma Hospital with a building collapse and an attempted drowning as well a looking into the moral dilemma of patient treatment. The rest was YouTube.

It was around 04:45 when I woke up with the intention of staying awake until five and then getting up. It was only when the alarm sounded at 05:10 I realised I’d been back to sleep. Only Maya was outside so I sorted out the dogs and off we went.

Just one van was in the car park, the black one with the bikes on the back. It was dark as we walked the Promontory to the rocks as the moon is long gone and there were clouds but little reflection.

Walking to Azzuro was reasonably simple as there is almost a bar at the end of the beach carefully created by the sea. Water does sometimes wash over so a little care is a good idea. I managed to keep the dogs together although Isabella most likely visited one of the gardens as she appeared with a bone. The remainder of the walk was uneventful.

Skinny and the girls went back to Azzuro with only a limited interest in the ball. Skinny, like always was doing his own thing but showed a too deep interest in the sheep so I called him to me. The others chased each other as well as the ball. The power went off around 06:55 slightly ahead of the 07:00 schedule. Mickey tells me he saw men working to prepare for today as he came from Kandanos yesterday. The cut affected both Paleochora and Kountoura.

I rode to Paleochora for bread and started up Panorama but turned back halfway up the incline as the power meter and voltage dropped alarmingly as I should have recharged the batteries yesterday. I didn’t fancy riding back with no power from the other side of Paleochora so chickened out. In fact, it wouldn’t have been too bad as there was little wind and it’s mostly flat. I made it to the bakery and then back to Grammeno with what power was left and delivered bread to Lucia.

I fed the dogs and then put on a wash for Lucia once I’d made the DDs and the power resumed at 10:50. I went to the office to restart the UPS to find it had already recharged sufficiently and done its own thing. I returned to enjoy some tea and sunshine.

I lazed about in the sun then took the wash back to Lucia when finished. Time for another cup of tea and a little snooze in the sun. For some reason, the day was not very productive although I learned quite a bit about three phase electricity and installations. As one does.

Once the DDs were cooked, I processed them and put on the rice for later. I started it at three and determined to feed the animals at five. Part of the transition process to a later feeding time. The cats are always complaining regardless of the time of day or the food put down for them.

Bona turned up for her cigars, papers and filters, managing a little cleaning too I believe. She seemed suitably pleased I managed to find the correct articles and proceeded to dismantle a cigar to make a roll-up. Apparently, she can make fifteen roll-ups from one stogie.

Once the sun slipped down behind the building, I fed the cats and then the dogs. They watched me do some FST and prepare food for myself. They are now quietly sleeping with Maya and Sasha outside. Doubtless, Sasha will come in when I go out for my food.

Jamie, who went back to see his family before Christmas, sent a text asking if he could come back to Grammeno when he flies from UK at the end of the month. I’ve offered him the same accommodation on the same terms at least until the end of April and probably May. I shall be surprised if I get relieved before then so it’s really down to me to decide. He’s mostly harmless and we now have an understanding and know how to work together. I think he feels comfortable in the Grammeno environment and seems to benefit from our ‘little’ chats.

As predicted, it was cooler than yesterday but still sunny and warm as there was little wind. Tomorrow looks about the same as today just with more wind, mostly from the east. Next week is looking a little unsettled with some possibility of rain and cooler temperatures.
