Installation

With an Internet connection I was able to enjoy BritBox and an episode of The Gentle Touch. Quite an amusing storyline about a man living in some pretty uninspiring social housing flats in an older 1980’s London building. Noisy stairways with no lifts and children running around. He was living with his very young son as his wife had disappeared a year before. He worked at a nondescript job, sometimes on Saturdays. The inference was he was a little eccentric.

He had called the police when he returned home to discover there had been a break-in and his flat vandalised yet nothing of any real value had been stolen. During his interactions with the police he said he suspected his neighbours were responsible however he couldn’t prove it. He said they were constantly provoking him with noise at night, holes drilled through the walls and generally unpleasant behaviour.

The principal character, the lady inspector, had been to see the neighbours and enjoyed some tea and polite conversation during her visit. It seemed very much as though the man was making it all up or it was a fabrication of his imagination. The man’s doctor had visited the police station to give his opinion that he was depressed but certainly not violent. He had been given anti-depressants to help him.

The police called the man’s employer to discover he’d not arrived for work as usual. Putting all the information together, they feared he’d perhaps tried to kill himself so rushed round to the flat. They forced entry to find him asleep in bed with his son beside him in his cot. However, the polite and harmless neighbour was indeed banging around and in the process of drilling a hole in the dividing wall between the flats. The punchline is that she’d lost the plot when her son had disappeared a year ago with the man’s wife so was taking it all out on him. He had been victimised and he wasn’t making it up! Just goes to show how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusion.

All of the dogs were inside last night. I had to let Skinny out at around 03:45 which delighted me as I still had another hour in bed following his rapid return. He or another, considerately puked on the thick rubber car footwell mat I’d rescued from the side of the road one day. The mat resides just inside the van door to encourage Luis not to rip up any more of the decrepit floor covering.

We walked and it was easy for us to cross the river as the water was no longer flowing, above ground at least. I took the girls back later, without their chaperone, who preferred to remain behind in the van to demolish a bone he’d carefully brought back with him. No more puke though.

The dead cat had been rescued from the tree so was in an advanced state of dismemberment due to the attention of the dogs. I put the aforementioned into a plastic bag and gave it a state funeral in one of the dumpsters in the beach car park. Meanwhile, I unloaded more recycling glass into the container which is in dire need of emptying. We then walked the ball around The Promontory.

I went over Panorama to the bakery stopping for smoking requisites for Bona. Interestingly, Bona didn’t come in today. Probably having her teeth fixed. I had a call from a guy who threatened to arrive at the camping later or the next day. I sent him a link and gave him useful information. I popped in to ACS to pick up what I thought was my new mouse to find it was a package containing a van part for the Dutch couple.

Back at the factory, I delivered the package and the bread to Lucia whose iPhone was not charging. I took a selection of charging cables and tried to charge it for her. The Lightning port is getting a little old and a couple of her charging cables are a little the worse for wear. I charged the phone to around 80%, cleaned up the lightning plugs with toothpaste and did my best to clean up the port on the phone. She really needs to send the phone for repair.

I’d nearly made a cup of tea when Simon called to say the new office PC had arrived asking for instructions to install it. Much of the rest of the day has been taken up with the installation other than the time taken to welcome the guy who’d called whilst I was at the bakery. They are on the road behind Mickey. The guy asked for a discount saying that he’d been paying around 15€ at the other campings however, very politely I explained the camping is all about long stay customers who receive a preferential rate for that reason. I guessed that, if he’d been that focussed on price he would have asked earlier on the phone. I wasn’t prepared to give any discount…

The day has been chillier except for some sunny spells in the morning. There have been a couple of showers as forecast. Another February day…

Mostly overcast with some warm, sunny intervals. Some showery rain later but not cold as the air is almost still. Tomorrow is forecast to be sunnier with the risk of showers.
