Scarily Quiet

Alice isn’t helping Luther by killing his protagonist’s son right under the noses of all the heavies of which, now, there is one fewer. As usual, Luther is trying to do the right thing but possibly compromising everything else at the same time. By the look of the preview snapshots of the next episode, it’s likely Luther sorts it all out again. Unsurprisingly, I was on YouTube after, where I watched an eclectic assortment of house conversions, a Californian surfer with a truck conversion complete with board racks under, affordable passive houses constructed by a housing association and the beginning of something else but it was by then, bedtime.

The moon made a better show although still very much towards the west. It makes the morning walk quicker and more agreeable. No sweat getting to Azzurro and back but my mind was elsewhere so I wasn’t really concentrating on the dogs so needed to round them up before we walked back.

The Polish motorhome and the Slovenian van have been joined by a Lithuanian motorhome if I read the plate correctly. It was quite light by the time we were at the final biscuit rendezvous and I turned their lights off even before that. Sadly, in just over a month, the clocks will go forward and it’ll be darker in the morning once more. Incidentally, the last Sunday is 31 March.

I took the girls and the ball to Azzurro and back throwing the ball into the sea at very frequent intervals. Isabella and Maya galloped after the ball but only Isabella swam as it’s not Maya’s thing. Sasha had an interesting bone at one point. I don’t know where they keep finding them other than from summer beach BBQ’s. I discovered that Isabella has a ball stash in the field behind Erica and Janne’s van. There were six balls altogether. I was wondering where they were all disappearing to.

I picked up one loaf after riding over Panorama on a near-empty battery which needs a charge tonight. I arrived back before nine so hurriedly put my washing in the machine as I had a good amount. Joyce had already put hers for washing but I pulled rank and did mine first. It was a fine day so everything has dried and I’m wearing some of it.

The Inverter overheated as the dust filters were dirty and it only has one fan which runs at full pelt 24/7. The other fan needs replacing and, apparently, it has to be the right one or it just runs constantly at full speed. I decided to change over the inverters as I’d got the LBS computer under control and Simon hadn’t contacted me about it. I swapped the power over to Grid to keep the WiFi and switches running which serve the lower part of the camping. Just a matter of drilling some new holes in the battery cart to correspond with those in the inverter body and make the connections. I had to change the battery connections to lugs which was one of the reasons I hadn’t changed the inverters over previously. I really need to use 35mm copper cable which means chopping up the long lengths I purchased originally. I have the tools to do this as I purchased a hydraulic crimper and have the lugs but there are a number of other changes required which need more planning and time to complete. I also need to clean off all the dust and generally have a tidy up. I managed to successfully crimp the straight ends I’d soldered to the cable into some 35mm lugs which fit the connectors and make a far better job than the previous version of the inverter. The old connectors seemed never to remain tight so caused some local overheating due to poor connection.

The new inverter is working and even giving back electricity to the camping once the battery is charged and there’s plenty of sunshine. It seemed a shame to just let it go to waste as the battery is generally fully charged by midday and the background consumption is minimal. The camping will now benefit from a few free kWh so I can take some back on cloudy days and be able to run the heating without paying for electricity. I shall get a special meter which measures power in both directions but I imagine there will be more outbound power except when there’s two of us using the power when the neighbours are in residence.

There wasn’t much left of the day so it was a matter of feeding the animals and putting stuff away after a shower to celebrate the washing machine event.

Tomorrow night, the inmates are planning an evening beach party. They had one a while ago which they seem to have enjoyed. I’ve been invited but I think I’d prefer a visit to the dentist. In days gone by I used to spend plenty of time around camp fires but the thought of freezing on the beach getting smoked out whilst watching the inmates get wrecked whilst munching dead sea creatures doesn’t really do it for me. Perhaps I’ve got old or am just plain unsociable…

Generally quite a productive day all told.

A mild and moonlit morning which turned into a warm and sunny day once the clouds cleared. Tomorrow should also be likewise. Sunday night and Monday are looking very wet with something like 40mm of precipitation forecast. If that comes to pass, it’s going to be a little wet!
