Merely A Trickle

Frost was on the warpath at a campus where a student was pushed down some stairs. This was secondary to the death of an Asian woman murdered for £85 after a raid on their sub-post office and confectionary business. Two well known local lads were in the frame but proving it was the problem.

The student recovered and went back to swimming club where an attempt was made on her life by an extremely damaged fellow student who finally admitted the murder of another student and his younger sister when they were children. Apparently, the mother had witnessed her son drown his sister but chose not to do anything about it. I went to bed before ten as I was quite tired after an intensive day with emails.

Sasha went out and didn’t return when I called her. She had a change of heart when I got up around three and came in to be with all of the others.

We were on the road a little earlier as I was up before the alarm. The Swedish van was still parked near the glass recycling and another vehicle with a roof tent was parked along the beach track. It seemed cold but fairly cloudless so there were masses of stars to gaze at now the moon has left for a little while. It should return at the end of the month just before the clocks go forward – one of my favourite times of the year.

The trip out to Azzuro was pleasant as all of the dogs were flashing merrily so I could see them. Skinny had found treasure and Isabella and Sasha sloped off until I called them back. I distributed biscuits to those present and we set off back to The Promontory where I arrived with just Sasha and Isabella plus Skinny. Later, it became apparent that Oskar was munching a sheep’s skull on the beach, Maya had found something interesting to eat and Obi had sloped off into the camping. If I don’t keep my eye on him, he does this. It turned out Obi had joined Betty, Bear and Lucia as I reacquired him when I brought the bread.

We didn’t go back to the camping but walked to Azzuro again collecting up Maya, Oskar and Luis on the way. We even went out onto the rocks to watch the sunrise which is now back behind Paleochora. It was a marvellous morning so I was quite happy to go to Azzuro once more.

I took the boys back, fed the cats and went out with the girls and Oskar who replaced Skinny who was too involved munching his prize in the van. We went around the Promontory where we met the nice ACS courier and his friend who looked equipped for fishing.

We spent quite a bit of time by the lagoon retrieving the balls with Sasha and Isabella swimming into the deep water. Maya just splashed around showering me with water as she doesn’t do swimming. There was more ball-throwing in the field as we walked back so the girls have been quiet most of the day. Luis made up for it as he was quite noisy. We walked 8km today.

I rode over Panorama to the bakery and headed back. Work to screw rods into the rock face was continuing and the men were also crushing rocks in the quarry.

I delivered to Lucia and retrieved Obi before feeding the dogs, washing up and making tea. I felt like a lazy day and had only one IT task on my agenda which was to check that LBS’ website was working properly. It’s only a placeholder page with contact details and affiliation information. Purely a Web presence.

I had an email from Gilles who is quite enjoying his life despite operations and treatment for early-stage bladder cancer. He tells me the cancer has not spread. He will be going on a trip to Canada this summer. He was one of my lodgers at Tyndalls and worked at RSH. He had a hot rod which he eventually sold after we’d done some work on it. He’s been working at a school in London since leaving Hindhead all those years ago.

The remainder of the day became quite relaxing once Luis was persuaded into periods of silence. The sun was warm and my chair quite comfortable. I may have fallen asleep until disturbed by a load of dogs reminding me it was nearly time to eat.

There were a couple of calls from Greek numbers which I imagine were for summer holiday bookings. Seeing as Marisa will be taking over the bookings fairly soon, they can call her as I cannot offer any real help.

Quite a relaxing day really…

Warmer than yesterday after a cool but clear start. Plenty of sunshine and barely a breath of wind. The next few days will be fine just a little windy on Monday through to Tuesday morning. We’ve had a good run of calm weather recently so cannot really complain.
