Tiger, Tiger…

Thursday and Morse struggled with two sets of murders which they thought were connected. Thursday lost it with the perpetrator to one, who conveniently confessed after. There was a tiger, an indolent, dysfunctional titled family and a guy who seemed to have a South African accent.

The tiger, which was supposed to have been put down, was doing the rounds eating people or lopping bits off, having escaped captivity. The locals formed a posse which included Morse, Thursday and the Chief Superintendent to ensure things were kept in hand. The superintendent recounted an incident in India where a man eater polished off some of the locals, stock and so on. Finally, the superintendent and some others from the Indian police hunted down the tiger which mauled one of them but the superintendent finally shot. The South African, who’d listened to the story, scoffed saying it was simply a yarn. Later, when the tiger finally appeared, it attacked and presumably killed the South African. It was the Chief Super who shot the tiger dead as it was about to leap onto Morse defending a woman and baby. A joky but grisly end to the story.

I watched Economics Explained on YouTube which examined the rise in the fortunes of Florida which, after a shaky start to its existence, is doing much better than other states.

We managed to get out of the gate at five and back well before half-six. The girls and Skinny went on a further investigation of the Promontory however Isabella seemed less enthusiastic after her initial interest in the ball.

I rode over Panorama and the seafront where I spied Mickey’s motorhome parked. It transpired it didn’t start when they came to leave after the night out. He stayed and the others caught a taxi back to the camping. I saw Mickey a little later, hunting for a mechanic. I sent him to Manolis who, fortunately, had the exact battery required. Mickey came back to Grammeno, picked up the remains of his stuff and finally left.

I returned to share bread with Lucia who was preparing Bear for his trip to the vet to be neutered. I mentioned the fiasco the previous night so as not to have to hear it all over. The French couple opposite were beginning to pack up so I took their money and bade them farewell. I suggested they might come back as they’d effectively paid for a month but I doubt they will as they have plans.

My next job was to sort out the office printer and run off a load of documents for Nina for her tourism project. There were a number of interruptions including the postman delivering an important document, Micky departing followed shortly after by the French couple. Despite the document titles being in Slovenian, I managed to print all of them regardless of the interruptions. There were around twenty different documents, some on different coloured paper.

I finally returned to the dogs having dropped off the printing. I made tea and washed up before lounging in the sun and falling asleep.

There were some small IT tasks for EG. Bona arrived shortly after the Swiss couple I was conducting around the camping. The couple have replaced the French so all the vans are now together in one location even though the rest of the camping is empty, other than the tents. Lucia has a new neighbour to play with.

I delivered Hell to Bona and promised to hang up some of the sheets removed from the cabins which were there all through the winter. Some very grubby due to dust and other invaders including some cats!

Maria is in the office again so probably has another private student to coach. I foresee difficulties when Marisa arrives in mid-May when Maria is finally deposed and the new broom sweeps clean. There may also be an attempt to supersede the current, ponderous document system with a far more sensible spreadsheet, saving the lives of countless trees the world over. IF Marisa can convince Georgia…

The day felt a lot cooler than yesterday so I only removed my shoes and socks. There was sunshine and some wind. There is the remote possibility of some minor precipitation tomorrow but things still look good for the carnival at the weekend.
