Wreckage

The GraceChurch detectives were investigating the cause of death of a young woman who’d ‘fallen’ from the college roof to discover she’d been stabbed before being shoved to her death. There were several candidates with a motive however it was through clever deduction the true culprit was apprehended.

I was well ahead of the alarm as Luis provided a splendid dawn chorus and I didn’t feel it was worth loafing in my pit after that. It seemed cold at first as there was a little wind and a few clouds which made it seem darker than other mornings. We encountered some kite remains including strings hanging in bushes or strung across the paths. Only one wrecked kite littered the beach near Azzuro.

A camper and the motorhome which has been around a couple of nights, together with a car, adorned the car park. I felt there night be a dog with the camper but none of mine seemed to notice anything so I guessed it was my imagination.

We arrived at Azzuro for the first visit so it was still quite dark when we were back at the Promontory and walked up the west side where another kite string was caught in the trees and disappeared off into the distance. I decided I’d follow it in daylight with fewer dogs.

The second Azzuro visit was quickly accomplished, the boys dropped off at the camping, the pussies fed and the washing machine emptied. It was as I emptied the glass recycling at the car park that I noticed a dog at the back of the VW camper from earlier.

We continued on our way with the balls and thrower to revisit the rocks to find out where the kite line ended up. I followed it to the rocks and then into the sea. I pulled up a lot of line to discover nothing on the end.

We were intercepted on the way back to the camping by a young male dog who, by now was free to roam. He appeared fascinated with Skinny and also played with Maya too. A young Swiss woman was by the van so I went over for a chat. Needless the say, time escaped me so it was almost nine before I brought the dogs back to the camping. I went to the Kountoura branch of Anatoli and came back to see Lucia and Betty. Bear was fast asleep behind the van windscreen on the dashboard. He looked so cute, the little devil.

I fed the dogs and sat with some tea. The sky was cloudy and it was a little windy. I fell asleep so drank cold tea. There was already washing on the line and more in the machine to hang up.

I was feeling a bit lazy but contacted Lucia for some vehicle details as I’d managed to contact the ferry company which will transport them from Castelli to Gythion next Monday morning. She’d tried to call them to no avail and the Web link in her booking confirmation didn’t work. With a little detective work and the app, I managed to confirm that her booking was correct so she had nothing to worry about. They were very efficient.

A Swedish woman came to the camping to enquire about staying tomorrow and she was soon followed by a French couple on bikes who came for the same purpose.

The afternoon was almost over when I called Toni to give him the joyous news the poo tank alarm was going off. Together we investigated but I left him to contemplate alone as there were animals to feed and I’d left everything too late for a change.

None of the dogs told me it had started to rain so I rushed out to take in the washing which had dried nicely. The rain lasted only a couple of minutes but now the washing is in and the day is done.

It was cooler than yesterday with a little wind and a lot of cloud which made it feel chilly at times. There was a brief shower in the early evening. Tomorrow looks the same but Thursday should be sunny.
