Battery Problems

Martin Shaw was the baddie and David Suchet his friend and downfall. To be honest, I’d didn’t really find Shaw convincing as Sir Charles, the famous actor. I fell asleep after Poirot and woke up in time to go to bed.

Luis and Oskar had a disagreement about something so I told them to shut up. It was getting near time to get up anyway. The sky was clear and there was hardly a breath of wind as I distributed biscuits prior to crossing the rocks. Maya was not present but came panting up as we approached the subsequent meeting point.

The walk down to Azzuro was pleasant and easier as it was becoming lighter by the minute. Only Skinny had a bone as I managed to keep the others out of the gardens. The river is still underground by the sea which makes crossing a breeze.

There was only one car in the beach parking as we jogged back towards the Promontory. I was able to turn off all of the flashing lights and it was quite light as we stood on the highest point on the rocks. Just one more trip to Azzuro and the boys went back to the van, the cats were fed and we set off once more

I threw the ball around the car park but I could see Isabella didn’t really have her heart in it so we continued up the Promontory and over the rocks once again.

The two guys from the camping were preparing to go into the sea with harpoons and were receptive to a little doggy attention. After a short while we left them to change into their seal equipment and swim amongst the rocks.

I rode over Panorama stopping at the bakery and Petrakis. It wasn’t supposed to be a big shop but I had quite a bit of stuff including 3kg of fakes.

I delivered bread to Lucia who was preparing to take Bear to the vet in her van. I left her to it and put on some washing for the young family opposite and next to the restaurant kitchen.

The dogs eventually got fed and I a cup of tea. It was short-lived as I received a message from Lucia to tell me her van wouldn’t start and to ask if I had a battery charger. I suggested she ask Nina and Korel as they bought a more powerful one. When I arrived, Korel had already put the battery on charge and Lucia was preparing to go to the vet on the bike with Bear in the cat box on the back. She was planning to take Betty but I said I’d dog-sit her and she should just get on and go to the vet.

Betty and I communed for a little while in the sun then she moved off on her own. I went to empty the washing machine for the family opposite who’d gone for a walk. Betty was pleased to see me when I returned but remained composed and silent all the time. I left her for a chat with Peter and to collect his money. Betty could hear us talking but still made no fuss.

I went back to the dogs expecting Lucia to return soon. I contacted Manolis to see if he had a new battery on the shelf as the one in the van appeared to be the original and the vehicle is seven years old. He needed a photo and the battery number to be sure. I went back to find Betty sleeping calmly in the van, took a photo and sent it to Manolis. I have a feeling Betty’s separation anxiety is as much to do with Lucia as Betty…

Manolis announced he probably had a replacement battery so I asked him to bring it out to the camping where I ended up installing it. Manolis had a motley selection of tools so I went off to get mine and just got on with it. The van started first turn of the key so Manolis left and I took back my tools.

The dogs were pretty fed up as I was about to feed them when Manolis announced he was on his way. I calmed them down and fed them and then the cats. Much of my day seems to have been calming animals and people down although I did have the opportunity to do some other things.

In all, it’s been a busy day but stuff has been done.

I’m about to eat some of the cauliflower and fresh carrots brought by Lucia.

A calm morning with a clear sky lead to a sunny day but with increasing wind. There is talk of the possibility of some dampness around midday tomorrow.
