Martin Shaw, as Judge John Deed, had to ditch one of his former lovers, Lady Rochester, when he discovers she’s deep into a massive fraud which he’s been too gullible to detect. The main theme is three siblings who are accused of murdering or attempting to murder their parents. They’re all pretty unpleasant especially the elder son. Deed’s arch rival is married to the lovely Lady Rochester a fact which Deed is keen to exploit to his advantage. It was a great episode.

The alarm woke me at 04:05 and we were out of the gate by 04:25. It was still and felt warm so I was in heavy shorts but light on top. It was chilly but not cold which kept me concentrated on keeping up the pace. Only one car in the car park although a camper had arrived by the time the ladies and I had completed the second walk with Skinny.

It’s getting much lighter however this will change on Sunday morning. It was a pleasant walk and I could see that the tree partially blocking the road has been dealt with and the large plastic pipe draped along the side of the road appears to have been buried. I surmise this is to supply water to irrigate the tamarisk saplings which are showing signs of life. The girls and Skinny went out again with the ball once I’d prepared and put the DDs into the pot.

I rode over Panorama after a cup of tea. There was a diversion due to works on the beach road near the ferry terminal in Paleochora so I threaded my way amongst the narrow streets and houses to arrive at the port, then on to Anatoli for bread. It wasn’t quite as warm as yesterday when riding back.

With the dogs fed, I made tea as I’d managed to do everything else earlier. The DDs were bubbling away in the pot.

I read some more of Peter’s film script. The general has been abducted and they’re crossing the mountains with hordes of German troops scouring the mountains below. Fermor insists the general should be delivered unharmed and his rank respected.

It was generally a bit of a lazy day. Furthermore, Manos had made salad with black-eyed beans which I’d planned for myself but found I had only a few. He cooked loads of beans and gave me even more so now I have two meals.

I processed the DDs after repairing the cutter/blender as the stainless part which holds the cutter had come unglued. I shoved it back in and managed to finish the processing.

I had phone calls for summer bookings and one for this weekend I passed to Maria as I don’t have firm prices to give. It’s good for Maria anyway. Keeps her busy and gives her a purpose.

Another warm and sunny day requiring the SunBlocker to be put back up to keep the awning area comfortable. I even considered the ceiling fan! With a top temperature of 25.4ºC, it’s been the hottest day so far. Temperatures are forecast to remain at similar levels for the next few days.
