Saturday

I spent time consulting the weather before venturing from my pit and then I heard some rain so decided to give it a little while longer. It was very windy so not much fun out so we had a shorter walk before returning to base. I made some tea and decided to wait before going out with the girls as the sky looked very black and forbidding. We managed a decent walk with only a little occasional rain mixed with some sea spray. Time had marched on and it was windy so I stayed at the camping as I didn’t need anything from Paleochora.

The day would be busy as there was the remainder of the group arriving so I got organised with putting keys in doors so they could help themselves when they eventually arrived.

The inmates of Ξ3 decided they would leave and not stay the two nights planed so packed up and left. Good news for Bona as she could get it clean for the arrival of Jamie and his dad on Sunday evening. She took me at my word and immediately went there to remove the sheets. Shortly after, the couple called to ask if the room had been cleaned otherwise they’d come back. I told them it hadn’t so they returned.

There was only one non-group arrival, a German couple in a rented camper. I showed the guy the camping in the usual way and said he might like to park alongside the kitchen as it’s sunny and sheltered from the north wind. We went back to the entrance, I lifted the barrier to let them in and he drove down with his wife. By the time I caught them up, they’d parked right next to the bar in by the sliding gates nicely blocking the view of all the people I had in Ξ3-6. I reminded him that I’d said he could park alongside the kitchen but not there. He then packed up his chairs and table and said he was leaving. I stood there to ensure he did and could not believe it when he [deliberately/carelessly] drove over the flower bed when reversing out. He made a sort of apology then drove off. I hadn’t seen his ID but I expect he is German.

There was an addition to the group so I said they could use M7, a four-person cabin, so long as they used just the front part and didn’t mess up the rear. I then left them to get on with it as it I’d done enough walking around and the dogs wanted feeding.

I fed them but had received yet more phone calls from disgruntled customers who’d left messages on the website but received no replies. I sat down to send a text to Maria which I’d promised the caller I’d do sending the caller a transcript of the part that applied to them. By this time, it was getting late so I decided I’d just get something to eat and to call it a day. I was more than slightly tired so was glad to go to bed once I’d stuffed my face and watched the box a little.

As for the weather, the wind gradually subsided and it felt warmer and the forecast was for a quiet Sunday. We spent the night with the van door closed and I even put the heating on!
