No less than two couples on our beach

Between Fido and Luis they were kept busy. Fido because he wanted to be petted and Luis because he was too scared to approach, so barked. Not annoyingly loudly but amusingly, for the punters. Dave wandered around but was more interested to see if they might have some interesting food. Boris was playing ball in the sea with me although he tried to wander off if my attention was elsewhere.

I have new Greek neighbours, a couple from Athens who don’t speak English so I get to practice my Greek. The young lady seemed to understand me ok as I explained about the dogs. Conversation is a bit laborious and limited but I get there in the end. They both like animals so the dogs will be ok.

It’s been busy today with Inter Sport in Lewes, Mr Lawrence in Lewes and EG in Walton. I get around quite a bit without moving.

At the supermarket today I got involved with a lady who wanted to buy a boy. As it turned out her nephew was there to help her, an English boy who has been in Crete two years and goes to school in Paleochora. His real name is Theo however the other boys call him George (what a surprise!). His aunt actually wanted to buy a cucumber which, in Greek is very easily confused with a boy. Cucumber is αγγούρι (agouri) and boy is αγόρι (agori). So, if you were in the mood for some τζατζίκι, a Greek dish involving lots of cucumber, you could find yourself coming out of the supermarket with a couple of boys if you get the words mixed.

I was invited to come eat some goat later but I might give that a miss as I’m not sure I can be bothered to socialize with a load of expats.
