The patient is stable

I stayed with Isabella all evening and all night. We went out for a necessary wander around 02:45. I was in a sleeping bag on my reclining chair so was warm and comfortable despite the tent flapping in the wind. Isabella slept most of the night and made not a sound. I left a dim red light on above her so that I could see how she was doing. My head torch allowed me to keep an eye on her saline drip. She managed to pull the drip from the bottle but not from her leg. Poking it back into the bottle is no problem but I’d never be able to thread it into a vein in her leg. Stavros had enough trouble and he’s been doing it a while.

The patient is still very thin and bony but she has not had any food since last Thursday. She is to go without food and water until Friday and get all she requires from the drip and the medications which I administered according to instructions emailed last night.

I took the other dogs on a shorter walk and Skinny, Obi and I went out again for another quick circuit. I let Skinny off the lead again so he had a good run about. He almost came back with us but diverted to the beach gate of the camping and met me when I went to feed the cats.

I made some breakfast and did some tidying up. Something I’d been meaning to do for quite a while. I do make occasional attempts but Isabella is normally so untidy it’s ver disheartening so I just try to keep up by picking up most of the big bits of rubbish. I’m using the time of her confinement to attack different areas and tidy them. Today I cleared the table and the unit upon which the Instant Pot sits. It all looks very organised and clean however I notice strong winds are forecast for midday tomorrow so I don’t expect things to remain dust-free beyond tomorrow morning.

Isabella has been very calm and relaxed all day. She has spend much of the time asleep but has remained alert to passing military jets and other activities. The other dogs have been mostly subdued. It is said that dogs know much more than we do and are very sensitive to disturbances in the Force: maybe they have already worked things out. Luis and Fido spent most of the day asleep beside me and Skinny was under the chair. Obi was inside the van as was Oskar.

The day has been warm and sunny with a top temperature of only 18.4℃ which seems chilly after the previous couple of days. The wind was from the east south-east this morning but has changed to west south-west.

The wind will get up tomorrow morning and be very blowy around the middle of the day. Tomorrow, I will need to get to the pharmacy so must plan accordingly.

Later in the afternoon, I rode my bike for a bit and then took advantage of the calm to have a hot shower. I fed the cats, prepared food for myself and gave the dogs some biscuits and the rice and sardines which I’d previously prepared for Isabella and was never eaten.

Xanthippos has been progressing his tiling which appears to be taking a lot longer than his estimates. As far as I know, Polychronis has not delivered any metal to me and I’ve heard nothing from Antonis. I shall shake his tree in a few minutes.
