Power cut

Even getting up at 05:50, it was soon light enough to see easily to cross the rocks and the causeway. It was darker because there was a power failure that affected Paleochora and the surrounding areas.

Paleochora by night!

Paleochora was in darkness other than the harbour entrance marker lights and the light which marks the small island nearby. These are solar powered anyway.

It was difficult to pick out Skinny when he was far off up towards Plakaki but he generally does what he’s supposed to anyway. The red van with the dog was still present parked on the beach. The dog within barked menacingly as we passed although it’s very easy to be brave when you’re tucked up safely inside the van.

We met the guy with the motorbike who regularly spearfishes from the Promontory. He’d just arrived and was getting his equipment ready as we passed. He’s a bit of an interesting character and can often be seen in Paleochora – local colour.

There were some clouds lurking over mountains to the north however I set off for Krios meeting Gregory and his dogs still on the way. I used the time to Elevate my brain and admire the scenery. We chatted, I petted the dogs and then went back for some breakfast.

I was a little brighter by now but still very cloudy and chilly due to the northerly wind. The good news is that the wind is predicted to change to the south during the weekend bringing warmer and hopefully, more stable weather. It will be nice to not have to wear a coat when out with the dogs. It is April after all!

The day was a lot less busy than the previous ones. Mikhalis came to the camping so I showed him the WiFi router I purchased and setup on his behalf. We will go to his greenhouse tomorrow once he’s found out the password for the router we need to connect to.

Tony is working his way around the camping with his strimmer. He’s been busy near T3 and Z3-6 and the bar area today. He’s working his way around the camping in a logical fashion it would appear.

Elias provided a load of washing for the machine and told me he’d bought the wrong flour from Petrakis. He doesn’t want what he bought so gave it to me in exchange for some more wholemeal flour. He showed me his latest dough mix which will soon be ready for baking. Elias has got himself organised into a schedule which allows him to produce enough bread to feed them. It’s a lot less effort and cheaper to buy the bread from the baker but that’s not what it’s all about.

I made up some starter which appears to be making an effort to rise. It’s not been warm or sunny enough to make the starter really get going. I plan to eat some concoction I made up earlier involving tomatoes and aubergines of which I have plenty at present.

There is more rain forecast for this evening with a probability of 72% however, it’s only supposed to be 0.07mm which is very little more than a light mist! It’s certainly not very warm right now.

Monthly summary for March
Daily summary for April 1st.
Still not very warm but a little sunnier than yesterday.
