Hottest Day of the Year

Luis decided to accompany Fido and Oskar out at bedtime. I was pretty sure what would transpire but Fido and Oskar came in as required. I made a half-hearted attempt to get Luis to come in; it was hot and most of the punters had left anyway. As expected, he wanted to come in around 02:00 so I let him in although Charlie and Isabella remainder outside with Obi until morning.

The night was hot so there was a deal of fidgeting so we were awake by 04:30. I didn’t get up until a little later and today, I let them all come out as the closer punters had all left.

The Snorer was still snoring loudly and didn’t appear to wake as we wandered past. The sky was a little murky so there was less light and no dawn light to greet us.

Looking east at 05:13

Murky and no sign of Gavdos

Charlie disappeared so didn’t join us at Plakaki. He eventually reappeared in time for biscuits near the end. He’d stashed a chunk of bread which he brought back to the camping and ate. I’m sure that if I gave him a lump of bread like that he wouldn’t eat it.

I went down into the camping to reconnect one of the access points kindly unplugged by one of the punters. They felt it more important to charge their device and leave the Access Point disconnected to ensure poor WiFi. I think I’ll wire the AP directly into the fuse box.

I measured the distance to the bar and concluded it was too far to run a cable without a switch somewhere along the route. It would be better to have that AP wired rather than repeating from another via WiFi.

I took time to check on the kittens and replenished their food and water. I later found them playing roughly on the decking of T2 with a lady from Athens looking on.

I went up the mountian to the pass and back, then to Petrakis for some tomatoes and other bits. Upon my return, I went into the sea for a splash around. The sea was very pleasant and also quite calm with only soothing, gentle waves.

On my way past the restaurant, I was introduced to an Australian woman with a small boy. She is interested in coming here during the winter. She wanted to chat longer but the dogs were in and I was cold after my swim so I decided to break with tradition and actually have a shower with hot water!

I released and fed the dogs before making some tea for me. I was in need of repose so sat down and remotely turned on the ceiling fan, more to discourage the flies that to stir up the air.

I decided it might be summer so have started to take down the awning sides. So far the east side is down and the southern sunblocker is up to provide a little shade. I’ll take down the front and the west side tomorrow when I’m feeling a little more active.

There has been little noise during the day other than a barking outburst from Oskar and a couple from Luis. They are currently residing in the SDC where they will remain until supper time.

I have washed some spinach and cooked some beetroot. One of which is quite sizeable.

As the title suggests, today is the hottest of the year so far with a top temperature at 16:46 of 35.0C. Incidentally, the all time record is 44.2C on 1 July 2017. I think it will be another hot night.

Max 35.0C – Min 22.5C
