Arrivals

I quickly checked the external conditions before committing myself to further action. As I soon saw, the day was dry and moonlit even though there was a number of clouds. In all, the moon did quite a good job today.

I was startled by an amber, flashing light whizzing past me. I thought perhaps it was a local authority service vehicle until I realised it was Luis. He seemed particularly motivated and passed me several times. Quite a change from his perennial dilatory progress!

As far as I could tell, there was little sloping off into the gardens at Plakaki so we had a quick turnaround and then back to the Promontory where there were further biscuits and I turned off their flashing lights which had been unnecessary for a little while.

Skinny joined the girls and the thrower on the second walk. He has his own agenda anyway, choosing how and where he walks. The Crazies ran around madly and cooled off in the sea at the Big Beach. From then on, Isabella hung onto the ball and even managed to come back with an extra ball!

I rode into Paleochora against a predominantly northeasterly wind only noticing after a few minutes that the bike’s batteries were lower than expected. I was able to complete my ride with power remaining and the batteries are awaiting charge during the night.

I fed the animals and made tea then sat down in the sun for a while. There were things that needed doing as I noticed some of the toilet bins were quite full and the paper was out in one toilet. Having no women in the camping at present, there was little to do in the ladies. I gave the shower that I use a bit of a clean so at least one looks presentable. I turned my attention to emptying some of the bins and checking that T5 was ready for today’s arrivals who, as it happens, have just phoned. They tell me they’ll arrive in ‘about an hour [or so]’ which is quite annoying but then I don’t know the circumstances. One couple is returning and the other their friends who will probably stay in T5 which I’ve prepared for them.

The power, that had been off since 09:00 came back unexpectedly around 14:15 which was a bonus. Not that it affects me too much other than that I have to use 4G for Internet access. Considering the amount of data in my monthly bundle, it doesn’t matter.

I wandered up to see if the rubbish container had been emptied to find it still full. I stopped at the office to coax all the network devices back into operation as the UPS waits a little before supplying the load just in case the power goes off again. I think everything is back and working. Except for the AP in the customer kitchen which needs a replacement switch and we don’t really need anyway at present.

I finished preparing my food for tonight which includes some interesting Italian black rice which I thought I’d try. The doggy rice has just finished cooking so I’ll soon be able to feed them before the arrivals put in an appearance. I think Maciej will also appear later but he doesn’t need any help from me. Only the cabin-dwellers.

Cooler than yesterday but plenty warm enough in the sunshine. The outlook for the weekend is unsettled but no significant rain is forecast at present.
