Yellow Flag

It was warm yesterday and the evening so I deployed the large fan inside as it helps to keep the mosquitoes busy too. The dogs were much more settled during the night although Isabella decided to spend the night outside.

There were something like eleven vehicles including two caravans parked alongside the beach on the track yet none in the car park nor any FreeLoaders elsewhere. There was a little wind to help keep the annoying insects at bay and Luis made it to Plakaki and back twice!

Oskar and Luis came in a little after the others following the second Plakaki visit. I took the girls out with the thrower so they could play together but separately with a ball. I sent Isabella out into the sea to swim after hers and threw the other ball for Sasha who mostly managed to find it and bring it back.

Sometimes, Isabella would abandon her ball and swim frantically back in order to run after Sasha’s ball which had already been brought back to me. At one point, both balls were in the sea pushing Isabella into overload. Finally, both balls and dogs made it back to the camping so that I could ride to Paleochora and back just for fun.

I’ve been a little busy during the day as there’ve been three arrivals and one washing machine. The man came to service the boiler and there was a heavy item in the washing machine which required some special attention or it would never spin. I might ask for a service on the wash machine before the silly season begins. I had a conversation about the boiler with the service man who mentioned that Georgia had asked him to service it twice a year! We agreed that the current installation is sub-optimal as we’re using diesel to heat water when there’s a solar heater there too. He seems a sensible chap and did a thorough job. I now know more about how the boiler works.

The five motorhome bays are full and I have a further five scattered around in the middle of the camping. I could squeeze in a couple more depending on their size. There are tents along the beach and some rentals coming today. There needs to be better organisation at this time of year to prevent conflicts between tents and motorhomes. In July and August when the place is full of tents, there have to be fewer motorhomes in any event.

The lurgy has meant the kitchen is now closed so the restaurant is closed however the bar remains open but is looking pretty empty. I suggested people go to Houmas or Grammeno for food.

Most of the motorhome customers are German with some Swiss, Austrians and a couple of French. The latter were very relieved when they discovered I speak the lingo. He teaches IT studies to older students. The new German ladies came to see the dogs as did the Austrian guy who is staying longer.

I’ve spent much of the day in the camping due to one reason or another and was asleep when I came back in the afternoon. I’d better go and find something to eat and get in more food for tomorrow and until the kitchen staff recover and are back online.

Hotter than yesterday so the hottest of the year. There was more cloud than yesterday but still plenty of sunshine too.
