It’s becoming difficult for the team of officers dealing with the murder in Unforgotten. It seems that all of the suspects have an alibi, no motive or are dead. I’m sure they will get their man in the end.

I went to bed quite early as it was windy and I was nearly falling asleep. I expected to be awake early but it was only ten minutes before the alarm so we were out of the gate by 05:15. No record there. It was windy and felt quite cold initially but there were stars and the sky was mostly clear.

I had to extract the girls from one of the gardens as we approached Azzuro. I think the gate was open and the fence is not in good repair. Isabella had new batteries in her light so no escaping my gaze. Coming back from Azzuro was easy as the wind was from the northeast.

All the dogs managed to arrive at Azzuro eventually so they were given biscuits and we set off again. A tree branch has broken off one of the larger Tamarisks so is partially blocking the road to the properties at the end. None of these are occupied during the winter anyway.

We completed the first walk and returned to the camping, Skinny carrying a prize in the form of a goat’s leg which he was looking forward to munching without any of the other larger dogs interfering. I fed the cats and we set off for another round of the Promontory. I felt it was too windy on the beach as it was still blowing well.

I rode over Panorama to the bakery but chose the back road as the sea was busy chucking water onto the promenade and the road by the ferry. The run back to Grammeno was easy with a following wind. The crushing machine was quiet as I suspect the man with the van was filling it with diesel. There is now a lot of aggregate of differing sizes.

I dropped bread to Lucia and was surprised to see her as she was to take Bear to have his bits removed. He has a reprieve until tomorrow. The French couple say they will leave tomorrow which is a shame as they will pay for a month. I said they could come back for the remaining days if it suited them. They probably won’t but I felt it worth making the offer. They are to continue their visit of the island.

I fed some of the food gifted by Lucia as Princess Betty had turned her nose up at it. What with Nina pandering to the bears now Lucia. The food was gone in seconds as usual.

I sat down to play with Lucia’s Windows laptop to get to grips with NordPass. If I’m to try to explain it to her, I’d better make sure I know how to use it. I plan to change to NordPass at the end of my LastPass subscription as LastPass has become quite expensive and they had a huge date breach which they owned up to a couple of years ago.

Mickey is leaving tomorrow so he wanted to settle his account. He’s relocated his van to outside the main bathroom block as he’ll be off in the morning. The ferry leaves in the evening but he’ll do some shopping in Chania during the day. He says he’ll be back in October.

I had a conversation with Georgia who’s been in a lot of pain recently. She has the dreaded osteoporosis and crumbling spine so has been laid low for the past month. She even asked Zoe to drive her to the hospital! It must have been bad as Georgia hates hospitals. She will call the guy who will come with his and four other families to stay Saturday night during the caravel. Bona will be pleased with a one-nighter. I let Georgia contact the guy and argue about the price. She can break the news to Bona. There’s been little demand and I’ve not offered any accommodation anyway. Other than Jamie, it’s the only other accommodation let for months.

I contacted Marisa about the weekend letting but she says Maria is still dealing with it until May. Georgia asked me not to bother Maria which is why I contacted Zoe. I was officially informed that Marisa will start around May 15 and Stella, her friend and other receptionist, at the beginning of June. Great joy, only two months, Easter and I’m done!

I’m not sure where much of the day went. I know that some of it was lost once the wind dropped and the sun shone.

The nice lady opposite came to find me as there was a delivery guy with a bed at the entrance. I was assisting Mickey with his scooter which he was putting into his rear box. Together, we tied it down and he put other items around it.

I went with the guy to reception where Maria was trying to get her car through the barrier which was partially blocked by the delivery guy. I helped him unload the bed and put it on one of the rooms near reception.

Micky, Lucia, Nina and Korel were about to depart for a night out at the restaurant. I was invited but politely declined. The thought of sitting in an enclosed space with three people smoking, drinking and stuffing their faces loudly didn’t do it for me.

I returned to the dogs who were waiting impatiently but reasonably quietly, I made some food and settled down for a tranquil evening of solitary bliss. I see Maria is in the office probably with one of her pupils.

Another day done…

The day started cool and quite windy but improved. I waited before going to Paleochora as the wind was subsiding. It was warm and sunny later and the wind dropped. The weather is look reasonable for the carnavel.
