Towering clouds overhead and thunder over the mountains

There was over 17mm rain in Paleochora earlier, about 1/2″ to you. None here yet. That rain fell in about one and a half hours.

We’ve been to our usual spot on the beach where we met a young German who is camping out and hiking with his mates. They had a rude awakening from Luis and Fido this morning when they discovered their camp. He said they like dogs so it’s no problem. There was.a Greek guy with his partner. He read micro electronics at Bournemouth and now works in solar energy in Greece but looking to leave soon. The conversation predictably turned to politics and the fate of Greece but we were both Varoufakis fans and on the same page. He and his wife threw Boris’ ball into the sea, as did the young German naturally. We finally left as the sun set.

It’s the calm before the storm at present and the little creatures are being quiet too.

The camping is quite full but then it’s a weekend in August so needs to be. No one has taken the pitch next to me although someone came a little while ago however Boris was less than welcoming. I might be wrong but there appears to be someone camping out in front of Janne and Erica’s caravan. With the new fence, it’s a nice little cul de sac. The fence prevents passers by which is a real bonus as people tend to wander past in the middle of the night otherwise.

I spoke to Manolis this morning about decking and fences. He told me that he might have a job for the winter so might not be available. I said that I could be flexible about when it is done so long as it’s before the winter. I also said he could do it weekends if he wished and it would be part of the Black Economy naturally. There are plenty of unemployed in Greece so I’m bound to find someone.
