We got wet!

It rained early in the morning and I woke up early as I accidentally went to bed quite early having misread the time.

But I thought it was all over so we went out as usual. The forecast showed a pause in the rain until 11:00. We started to walk and completed two laps and then a light rain started. We sat in the shelter of some rocks for a while but I could see more clouds massing over the mountains so I decided to call it a day. By the time we were back at the camping, considerable wetness abounded. I decided to close the van door, dry them off, make them shake then let them inside. This we achieved and I too went inside armed with my laptop. After a few moments I turned on the heater as the smell of wet dog was rather overpowering and it was only 14 ℃ inside. About the same temperature as outside. A couple of cups of tea later and lots of messing about on my laptop, the rain had stopped and the wind was drying out the ground. I could see from the clouds that it would remain dry for a while so got changed to go for a run. The Early Walk was insufficient to progress my Move Rings satisfactorily so I need to take some action in case the Evening Walk was rained off.

I set off to complete the Kountoura Circuit but ended up running all the way to Krios which is almost double the distance. I didn’t feel tired when I arrived at the half-way point of the Kountoura run so continued on. This brings me over 2,000KJ so with Winston telling me the latest of the progress of the First World War, I completed the extended run. Admiral Fisher has resigned as First Sea Lord, Winston is no longer First Lord of the Admiralty and the Gallipoli Campaign is bogged down due to delays. Just outside Houmas restaurant, Xanthippos drew alongside me on his trusty steed to ask my opinion of the weather. I told him there would be rain in the evening and night with more the following day. He said he’d take the opportunity to spread some more fertiliser as those are ideal conditions to take it into the soil.

I had a rather cool shower before returning to the van to continue to do very little. I felt a rest was called for. I then continued with some gentle cleaning as I was fed up with the piles of sand everywhere in the awning tent. It’s like painting the Forth Bridge as it stays clean for a very short time. Even with my generally high dirt threshold, I’d had enough. At this point Linda and her mummy arrived as she wanted to play with the dogs. I continued with my cleaning as I wanted to get on. They left and I studied the sky which indicated an earlier Evening Walk would be appropriate.

There was drizzle as we walked over the beach against the northeasterly wind which has slowly crept to around 55km/h gusts. I didn’t feel the need for the dogs to get wet again so our walk was quite rapid. There was still time for Luis to chase his ball although Fido was lacking enthusiasm.

I fed them and left them to wander a while but now they are inside whilst I write this. I have yet to prepare my evening meal however it’s early yet so there’s time.
