Crazy day

I actually managed two Promontory walks today and came back with the same number of dogs with which I left on both occasions! The Early Walk was pleasantly uneventful and warmer and involved the removal of my fleece which I nearly left behind when I left. Skinny and I prepared to run and set off as normal. That event was also without incident. I only managed a quick dip in the sea as it was either that or a shower and I felt the sea might be more beneficial. I pumped up the tyres on my bike and set off for Paleochora only to meet with Antonis at the camping gate. He just happened to have his ladder in the car which he kindly brought round for me to use later. I continued into Paleochora as I wanted to visit the ironmonger and Petrakis as I had little food left. I managed both activities including the purchase of 20kg cat food which would be delivered later. I keep buying small bags of cat food which work out quite expensive. I have to cart them on my bike or bother someone to go in a car so delivery of 20kg sounded cheaper and easier.

I’d put my breakfast into the Instant Pot and turned on the timer so it was ready when I got back. Time was getting on by now. I drifted off for a little while after breakfast and came round to the sound of Janne and Erica moving white gravel on their side of the fence. A truck delivered several bags of stones yesterday. They are making the area in front of their van match that around it. Very attractive it looks too.

A while later, an unexpected group of eleven Italian caravans showed up so there was a little mayhem in the camping as Maria was in Chania. I sorted out a couple but felt there were too many cooks so sloped off. Antonis arrived with the ladder and checked out the hobbling pussy. I said I wanted to get him to Stavros in Maleme and he replied that he might be able to take him on Friday. Since then, I can see that Obi’s dewclaws are in need of attention. Antonis will let me know if he can take me and the animals on Friday, once he knows his movements.

I’ve been on the storeroom roof, thanks to the ladder, and have sorted out my lightning sensor. There is/was the possibility of rain today and a storm was approaching. We’ve had only distant lightning and some brief power outages. The Internet was not working which I traced to a tripped fuse in reception so easy to fix. The power keeps dipping so we lose Internet connectivity as there’s still no power backup at the Telephone company’s cabinet up the road. Each time the power dips or drops, their equipment has to reconnect to the upstream service. If we can manage a small backup battery in the office, I’m sure the telephone company could manage one in their cabinet!

The Evening Walk was much later as I was busy on the roof with the lightning sensor. It was almost dark and no one was about so the dogs were able to be let off. I’ve not taken them onto the Promontory in the evening for quite a while as we’ve just wandered around the fields.

The result of the Supreme Court Judgement was interesting so we’ll be able to see what happens next.

Spinach this evening so I’d better get on with it as it’s nearly bedtime!
