Happy Birthday, Mummy! 90 today!

Only another ten years and we’ll be celebrating your 100th! We decided that Angela, at 93 on 4 July, was the oldest in the room – she has a mere seven years until she does the ton. We had a brilliant time: good company, good food and good entertainment. Thanks to Eleanor who did the majority of the arranging and to all the others who prepared food for all the various difficult people who are either lactose intolerant, allergic to seafood, gluten, or just plain vegetarian or vegan. An unforgettable birthday celebration.

Kallie and I, reluctantly, set off just after 07:00 for our little circuit over to the windmill and Kingston village. I suspect our little early morning excursions are beginning to catch up with Kallie as she didn’t show the same level of exuberance as on the first morning. It was wet but not raining and not cold. I even considered removing my hat at one point.

After breakfast, Terry arrived then I set off to set up the embroidery machines at Inter Sport’s shop in Lewes. There was the hardware setup followed by the software. I left around 13:30 and headed up to St Pancras Church and the Wood Room where preparations for the big event were in full force. I was tasked with collecting Kallie and walking her up to the hall so that she could also join in with the celebrations.

The guests gradually arrived but definitely insufficient considering all the food which adorned the tables. I did my best, having not eaten since breakfast, went round twice with the savoury and then the cake course. By the end, I was completely stuffed!

The principal guests left, the clearing up began and we were soon on our way. There is a lot of food left over so I know what we will be eating between now and Wednesday.

I walked Kallie home having mopped the kitchen and entrance floor leaving Chris Johnston to lock up. Terry, Eleanor and I are at 5GC have a few light snacks however I suspect it won’t be long before bedtime.
