A little frantic

It was a more peaceful night as Skinny was left outside and remained quiet. Isabella was free to roam and so spent most of the night on my chair and could go out to wee as and when. The alarm woke me so it took a few moments to get my head around the idea of getting out of bed to wander in the darkness around the Promontory. We reached the entrance to the Promontory at exactly 05:15 according to my watch. We walked according to tradition but beat a hasty retreat when rain began to fall. It eased as we approached the camping but I decided we should all go inside as it was too wet to run and I needed to order cat food anyway. It was only 13℃ so I put on some heat to aid the drying out process.

There were a couple of showers but it looked more settle around 08:00 so I fed the cats and set off for Palecochora on my bike with one of the new bags attached to the rack. The other has a problem with one of the fixings so I have to ask for a replacement. Petrakis was reasonably busy so I got on with my shopping. I asked Yannis if he’d be able to deliver cat food today or I’d need to get a smaller quantity to take with me. Gone are the days of buying a couple of kilos and it lasting a week! My first basket filled quickly then I was onto the second. I checked out and we had a discussion about non-synchronising photos and checked a few settings in his iPhone. I then managed to load my 20kg(!) shopping into one large pannier but I could see it wasn’t happy! I cycled gingerly back, not because of the weight but for fear of hitting a big bump and the attachments for the bag breaking. The 20kg load was easy as the motor did a lot of the work.

Back at the camping, I released the dogs then unloaded the shopping before making my breakfast. I tried a different order with my porridge this morning and ended up forgetting to put in one of the most vital ingredients, the oats. I wondered why the porridge was a little sloppy when it ended. I added the oats and put it back in the Pot for another couple of minutes. I was talking to mother on the phone when it finished. I was still eating at the end of the conversation. My weekly call over, I spent some time doing nothing before being called out by Xanthippos to greet a new arrival. A German with dog in a VW Caddy van which he’d converted himself. He admitted the conversion hadn’t gone quite as planned as he put in a floor and insulated and boarded the roof. There is now not enough headroom for him to sit down comfortably in the back. He is a vegan from Hamburg who is creating a vegan version of traditional regional dishes. He said he would stay a couple of nights, then a week and is now talking about renting a wooden cabin. He went to Paleochora camping first but found it too small and cramped. He didn’t like the proximity of the road nor the pebble beach.

I went back to sort out the animal food as the delivery guy called when I was showing the new arrival the camping. One of the bags got damaged on a rough edge so I needed to transfer over the food to a spare I just happened to have. I’ve now put down a board and rearranged the food stacks. There is now plenty of dog and cat food for a little while.

The Evening Walk started and ended in daylight as we were away soon after 17:00. It was a brisk walk as the wind, what there is of it, is from the north, and quite chilly.

Due to the lateness of my breakfast, I’m not starving hungry so I’m not in a rush to eat.

Georgia asked €350 plus electricity for the room which is considerably more than the refugee group are paying for their studio in Paleochora. The counter-offer has been made for €350 including electricity. I’m going to suggest to Georgia that she accept €320 + electricity as I feel people are more careful if they have to pay the electricity as an additional item. If it’s included then use as much as you like!

I need to go and shut the door to Z5 in case it rains in the night and to keep the animals out.

It was chilly last night with a low of 8.8℃ however the high for today is 16.4℃. It feels a lot chillier than for a long time. Rain is now falling, the door of Z5 is closed and my supper should be cooked. Skinny is still outside but I shall invite him in if he manages not to cause a disturbance.

I’m still sneezing and snotty but feeling better every day. As colds go, it’s relatively benign so mostly annoying and inconvenient.
