Royal Visit!

We were up a little later this morning having adjusted the alarm. A little too late as it turned out as I found myself running around the Promontory later than I would have wanted as I could do without being spotted. The walks went as they did yesterday, without incident. IZO only protested very briefly during our initial arrival but didn’t bother afterwards. Isabella and I ran during the third walk but I went back after three circuits round.

The others were let out soon after 08:00 as I saw little point in keeping them inside for nothing. The female pussy had been under the awning in search of a little love. She and Isabella seem to have an understanding although she’s quick to put Isabella right if she thinks she might have ideas above her station. All three of the younger cats seem to require more attention since the demise of their sibling. Unless it’s just my imagination.

After breakfast, I made up for my exercise and early start as it was sunny and warm. Productivity was low initially. Later, I did some server updates and checked on the backups. Great excitement on Wednesday as I understand the EG admin group and I will be holding a Zoom meeting. Golly! Zoom is a form of videoconferencing which I’ve not previously experienced.

I noticed the arrival of the Royal Carriage and associated entourage. Lena was with Georgia as was Micky and Five. Both Micky and Five have been recently clipped but both are high in the well-nourished scale due, I should imagine, from lack of exercise. My dogs had plenty to bark at with them around which would have broken up the monotony. As for their minders…

Georgia enlightened me a little, however, she was probably unaware of my conversations with Maria a couple of day previous. She gave me some tomatoes to make my life a little more interesting including many which will require some sunshine to ripen. This should avoid a glut. A visit from Dimitris wouldn’t go amiss however he doesn’t have access to the camping which is a bit of a bind. He bought me a wonderful food parcel a few weeks back. Georgia seems resigned that there will be no season this year and to the likelihood of not opening before August. She’s received calls from previous staff asking about her plans. Like everyone else, she cannot say. Apparently, there has been a further request to open the camping during the lockdown period but Georgia says she’s not interested in the responsibility at this time. I’m not sure how many customers there would be and I’d have to deal with them. I too, quite like not having any responsibilities.

She and Lena spend most of their time in their apartment but I understand there are gardens nearby and the sea too. She was talking about perhaps spending a few days at the camping for a change. They’d need to clean up her residence first as it must be pretty mucky by now due to the dogs.

Mikhalis and Xanthippos were also present but like everyone else, distant from each other. I keep my hands stuffed in my pockets and stand a safe distance away. We are all outside anyway. I received some antiseptic gel to go with my tomatoes – an interesting combination. They were all puffing away during our time together. Oblivious to the added complications tobacco use would make in the event of becoming infected with The Human Malware.

The Royal Party left around 16:00 having been to the office to pick up the post and perform other doubtless important administrative tasks.

There has been a brief period of unexpected rain but more is forecast for later. The forecast also speaks of thunderstorms however I don’t see any on the map at present. I’ve just checked that station 2287 (Grammeno Camping) is online just to be sure. More pattering on the metal roof. The forecast has got it wrong.

My supper is in The Pot, the dogs are, unsurprisingly, under the awning or inside the van. They are tired following their barking spree of earlier. I shall soon spring to my feet to give them some food and the last of their Leishmaniasis medication for this round. We appear to be getting through more of it now that there are larger dogs once again.

Isabella has just hoovered up her food in a matter of milliseconds. I’m convinced it doesn’t even touch the sides. She’s now eyeing up Obi’s bowl however I’m on guard to make sure Obi is not pressurised to surrender his food to marauders. He’s finished and now moved away of his own volition so the waiting vultures have descended in order of seniority.

A chunk of amalgam joined my breakfast as the filling from the tooth I took to the dentist last week fell out. At least that’s one thing the dentist won’t have to bother with and which might move me up the priority list.

It has plopped so I’m going to collect up the empty bowls and go in to enjoy my supper.
