More like it!

There was no wind this morning and even a warm breeze as we walked out onto the road heading to the Promontory. Isabella, who’d spent the evening and the night sprawled on the floor at the back of the van, decided to accompany us. She was not on the lead so able to proceed at her chosen pace. She appeared more lively than the day before but is looking very skinny having not eaten for a couple of day. Otherwise, there was a general lethargy amongst the slower group however Skinny was striding off into the distance ahead of me. The others were dragging along behind. I managed to complete three laps with all of them and Skinny and I completed another two before I took everyone back to the camping.

Isabella elected to remain with the others so just Skinny and I went out for another quick spin around the Promontory. Dawn starts around 06:00 and sunrise this morning was around fifty minutes later. As it was a crystal clear day, it was light earlier. Soon, I shall have to adapt my walk schedule to get the main contingent back before it’s light. Going out with one or two dogs later isn’t really a problem.

I rode my bike then sat down for a cup of tea and a read of the papers. Skinny was outside with me and was soon joined by the others. I made breakfast and went back to the Sunday papers.

I was in bed later than normal due to the arrival of my shopping and the chat with Janne and Erica. It wasn’t difficult to fall asleep in the warm sun. To be a little more active, I went to the reception and got all the keys so I could open the wooden cabins and vans for a little air. This has been the first decent day for a while and they have been shut up for a long while.

Alex was continuing with his maintenance of the irrigation system and Xanthippos was engrossed on an important phone call. He would probably have managed without the phone… I wandered around the camping with my handful of keys opening each cabin door and propping them open in case the wind got up. Some of the cabins were in need of a good airing. Others will have to be cleaned and the bedding changed before occupation. The sun had encouraged me to remove my fleeces and shirt so I was left with a T-shirt and summer shorts as the others were too heavy!

The morning passed, the dogs snored on, I read the papers and joined them for a little. There was the occasional sound of Xanthippos’ angle grinder and Alex was still amusing himself with the irrigation system.

I went next door to spend time with the cats on Janne and Erica’s decking. The two remaining boys were their so we communed. There was a lot of licking and cleaning and they both looked very relaxed together like a couple of bookends on the wooden bench which sits in front of the van door.

The boys and I wandered around the camping closing up all the cabins and vans. I went for a shower and fed the cats. The last of the pussy biscuits were consumed this morning so I shall contact Yannis tomorrow to see about having some more delivered to Marion and Friedrich so I can collect from there. The camping is locked up and officially, I’m not here anyway.

I cooked up some rice to tempt Isabella who has been under the decking for most of the day. I must go in to see if she’s eaten any. I left her alone inside the van to contemplate the small bowl of rice. Under normal circumstances she would be eating the bowl by now!

Easter Sunday around the world has been like no other as religious groups have not been able to celebrate according to their customs. Holiday visits to the beach or National Parks are allowed only under strict regulation if at all. Lockdown has to continue however some nations are embarking on a partial relaxation to allow people to earn some money and for the economy to start to recover.

The dogs are at present patiently awaiting their suppers. They are asleep in various locations however one movement from me will have them all instantly alert. Just the sound of the chair creaking would do it.

Isabella is toying with her rice and sardine. The others were very aware I’d opened up a tin of fish. They’ve had theirs so I’m just waiting for The Pot to depressurise and we’re good to go.
