A little better

I was up at 03:45 having spent another night in my sleeping bag on my chair. I get the feeling that Isabella would prefer that I sleep in my bed and not take over her spot during the night. I was annoyed by a mosquito so went inside to watch the 04:00 news.

At 04:30, I gathered the dogs together and set out for the Promontory. It is not so light as the moon is approaching the end of the present lunar cycle leaving a small amount of moon at a greater angle. The sky was almost cloudless and it wasn’t windy. A particular bonus as wind gets very wearing after a few days. Today’s permutation was to complete a couple of circuits leaving Luis and Oskar, the slowest of the slow, so that Skinny, Obi, Charlie, Fido and I could go around a couple more times at greater speed.

Skinny and I came back again later and he was again off the lead. He might be getting better at following me but was not so good at coming back at the en. I put the food for the mother and kittens up high in case he felt he could just turn up and guzzle it all. When he eventually did turn up, she gave him a telling off but today it was he who was having none of it! I wondered at one point if she was going to survive but she escaped up a nearby tree. With all the will in the world, Skinny was not going to be able to follow.

Isabella was camped out in my chair when I returned to the compound on each occasion. I left her there and went off to feed cats, open cabins and sit in the other recliner stationed on Janne and Erica’s decking. The young female cat joined my and we both slipped off for half-an-hour. I had an excuse as I’d walked 7km and cycled another 10.3km to Krios and back via the poly tunnels. She might have been out hunting in the night as she didn’t appear to be very hungry when I dispensed food.

I was feeling a little hungry so made my breakfast and read my emails. The lack of wind and sunny weather was very pleasant and Isabella had kindly vacated my chair preferring to be outside with the others.

The remainder of the day passed with little of note. The dogs slept and so did I. The sun shone, the sky was cloudless, the birds sang and it was a beautiful day!

In the afternoon, I rode my bike around the camping a little whilst listening to an interesting podcast. I had a very hot shower, fed the cats, closed up the cabins and went back to my chair on Janne and Erica’s decking to be joined at distance by the fluffy mother and one of the boys. Ursula suggested I might name the cats but that sounds a little drastic.

Today’s weather. Ignore the UV as the monitor seems to have a problem.

Isabella is a little better today and has spent much of her time under the decking. She seems a little more lively than yesterday, is drinking but not interested in the food I left with her all night and which Obi obligingly didn’t eat on her behalf. Stavros, the vet has regularly been in touch asking for updates and suggests that she will eat when she feels ready, it’s not a problem and that she should not be pushed into it.

Another day of ‘lockdown’ draws to a close. My lockdown is a bit of a contrast to a family crammed into a 23rd floor flat in Glasgow so I should be grateful for what I have…
