Temporary filling

The Early walk was very similar to the previous day except there were no strangers walking over the rocks. Isabella attended both parts and walked just over 7km. I’d put the chicken and rice in the pot the previous night as I wanted to get to the dentist so didn’t want to spend time messing with dog meals. The food was cooked when we returned from the second walk but I left it whilst I cycled into Petrakis for a few more groceries. I’m trying to catch up following several weeks of not shopping and I can move only so much weight in one go. I shopped yesterday but then the vegetables had been around for a few days and I guessed the new supplies would come in this morning. I was there just after 07:30 so pretty much had the place to myself. Loads of choice from the latest delivery!

Back at the camping, I fed Isabella and then let out the others for their share of the rice and juice. Isabella had a larger portion than yesterday and had no problem eating it all up. I cleaned up the pots and prepared my breakfast before departing for Paleochora to the dentist. The filling from the tooth with the missing crown had fallen out a couple of weeks ago and it was aching for a little on Saturday. It was a month since my first visit so I felt it time to renew our acquaintance. I was at the surgery around 10:00 and another victim was in the chair. I spoke to the assistant who told me to wait to see the dentist. He finished off the previous patient and then saw me. He installed a temporary filling and told me to return on Monday at 10:15 when he’d tidy it all up and fill the tooth. He didn’t want to put a crown on it without removing the root so I wasn’t in much of a rush for him to do that. We’ll see how well the filling works out and think again if there are problems. Certainly much cheaper than a new crown.

Xanthippos was sitting drinking coffee when I returned and kindly offered to deal with my dental problems in his own way. I thanked him for the generous offer but declined on this occasion. He updated me with the latest news that the camping might open in May or June. We agreed that this year will be difficult and we’re unlikely to be overrun with punters. There has been progress with the tiling but he is not rushing…

I ate breakfast, replied to some emails and then chilled out in the warm sunshine. I drifted off and remained asleep for quite a while. Two trips to Paleochora and a 7km walk got the better of me. I’ve caught up a little with my April Challenge but still have plenty to do before month’s end. No room for slacking!

The day was not lost as I have managed to transfer the controller for the WiFi system back to the Raspberry Pi which I can leave on all the time as it uses little electricity. Once I eventually get my solar panels mounted, I’ll care even less. This time I have a backup file and have made sure I have a note of all the passcodes! I’m not sure why the last installation became inaccessible but I have a backup installation on my laptop and a data backup too.

The remainder of the afternoon was taken up with preparing yet more chicken and rice, a shower and some general stuff. I’ve not seen the new kittens recently so suspect they’ve been moved elsewhere. Perhaps Skinny’s interaction with the mother was the trigger. She still appears for some food morning and night however I’ll lose no sleep if all the kittens don’t reappear. I have enough animals already!

My supper is in The Pot and has not yet finished. I shall retire inside and watch something on the box.
