There still appears to be a visiting rodent as there was a lot of scampering around in the van at around 01:00. Approximately thirty minutes later, Fido decided he needed to go for a wee so I dragged myself out of my pit to open the door. He had a great little wander, appearing about ten minutes later. I returned to my slumbers.

At 05:15, I noticed my watch battery was at 10% as I was being asked if I wished to change to power save mode. I sprang out of bed to put the watch on charge slightly confused since the battery was showing around 60% charge when I went to bed. This time, I stayed awake until the alarm went.

The waning moon

It was much warmer this morning and it was completely still. The sea had calmed down although it crept up on my left foot when my attention was elsewhere and I was standing on the shoreline. The river had followed the sea’s example and become fordable even though I managed to get one boot superficially wet in each direction. The smaller dogs were much more than superficially wet as they needed to wade through the water. Skinny and Isabella merely hopped over hardly missing a step.

The three motorhomes were still in the beach car park as we passed, again unnoticed. One has a dog but it has been inside on each occasion. Skinny shows an interest when he passes by.

I decided to go into Paleochora for some shopping as the weather will be unsettled tomorrow morning. The roadworks have progressed with kerbs on both sides of the road as well as the concrete base for the cycle/pedestrian path. This zigzags around and changes width periodically making it unsuitable as a serious cycleway. But at least it’s an alternative to the road for pedestrians and timid cyclists. Generally, I find Greek drivers are mostly considerate towards cyclists.

There wasn’t much activity at Petrakis other than a couple of school kids buying snacks and a few shoppers. I wasn’t there long so soon back on the road to Grammeno.

I was about to feed the dogs when the German guy with the small son appeared at my gate asking if he could use the washing machine. He said he’d get all of their laundry together and return later. I fed the dogs and filled up the large food container with the last 20kg bag of food from the storeroom. Having emptied the content, I threw the bag out onto the decking to collect later. Luis decided he was going to claim the empty bag for himself. At this point, there was a free-for-all with Luis in the middle. As referee, I waded in to rescue Luis from the hoard. He’s quite a stressy little devil at the best of times but has lately been quite aggressive particularly towards Oskar. For some reason, Luis growls at Oskar whenever he comes near.

No physical, lasting harm was done to Luis mostly to his pride. For the first part of the day he spent most of the time feeling sorry for himself but seems to be more outgoing again now. It’s not a bad thing for him to get a telling off from the others occasionally.

Fido picked up a sheep horn on the beach which was passed around finally ending up with Isabella who was about to bury it on the beach. It takes a long time for them to devour a horn so I took it from her and brought it back to the camping for later. I felt she’d forget where she’d buried it and it would be lost forever instead of amusing the dogs for hours on end.

The guy came back with his son and loads of washing which he stuffed into the machine. It took around two hours to complete and then he and his wife hung it up around the poles of the shading support. Surprisingly, there were more baby than adult clothes.

The latest Apple Watch Beta update is causing problems with my activity circles. Even though I’m moving around and completing the same workouts as usual, the activity is not being recorded as expected. I’ve sent feedback to Apple.

The last of the washing has been taken down and carted away by the owners so the camping is less like a Chinese laundry. Not that there are any customers as the Italian couple left in the early afternoon to catch their ferry to the mainland.

Litsa arrived earlier as she has been involved with transporting donated blood to the hospital which gives her a good reason to avoid covid movement rules and travel to Paleochora. Apparently, Manolis will arrive tomorrow and she will stay until next Wednesday when I suspect the operation will be repeated in reverse.

The days are getting longer as it’s now 18:34 yet still light. I will get ready now and take the dogs out for their Evening Walk.

Having walked at a good pace all around the Promontory and over the rocks, I can confirm that I’ve earned 99kJ towards my Move circle. I have started an ‘other’ workout to see how long it takes to close the circle. I do appear to have been standing which is a bonus as I reckon it would be hard work going around the Promontory on ones bottom.

With a high of 22.2℃ I think today ranks as the third hottest day so far this year. The hottest this year was 23.4℃ on 11 January. It’s likely to get warmer before the year’s out.
