I tidied!

The morning started with Isabella scratching so I though there might be an earthquake with the amount of shaking and rattling. I got up and we were out shortly after.

The Early Walk went smoothly with finesse so we were back at the camping in good time. I fed the various cats, did some washing up and had a cup of tea before my departure for Petrakis for some light grocery shopping. I’d forgotten to charge my bike so hurriedly put it on for an hour when I got in from the walk. There was enough charge for a trip to Paleochora and back against a westerly wind.

I had to navigate through piles of ballast which was being spread and was being scraped and rolled on the road. I’m guessing this is all part of the final work before the tarmac is applied. Naturally, the project will be completed by June.

I released the dogs, fed them and then filled up Isabella’s food containers for her fat-reduced food. I had some emails to reply to as well as to start the Exchange services on the Inter Sport server. The services had failed to restart probably due to updates and a forced reboot which must have happened at a bad moment. It was operational before the start of business.

Some of the morning disappeared and then I set about consolidating and reorganising the clutter which has been annoying me for quite a while. Some of the clutter was destined for the rubbish bin whilst other clutter was useful so needed relocating.

At one point, I walked up to the rubbish bins and then went to visit Maria in the office. She’s keen to get a TV aerial in her room so has asked Michalis to arrange it. She wanted me to tell her what was needed which I did. She later received a call from the couriers to say they’d be at Grammeno shortly. Maria left me to person the office and wait for the courier whist she slipped off to the bar for a coffee or something. I amused myself with the flowers in the pots by reception until the guy came to fix the fire alarm which was showing a fault and beeping annoyingly. It no longer has a fault or beeps. The courier arrived and handed me a package smaller than I was expecting. It was supposed to be a kitchen aid for slicing and grating for making vegetable salads. Instead, it turned out to be a 5TB external hard drive with kitchen item written on the outside. I can only imagine some Amazon employee stuck the wrong address label on my slicer so someone expecting a hard drive has acquired my slicer. It’s a major event to return the hard drive for a refund so unless Amazon ask for it back, I shall accept it as compensation for not receiving my kitchen item.

Maria finally returned to the office so I left to carry on with my cleaning and reorganisation. There is less clutter but we are not there yet…

I have to report that the popup chair kindly lent by Ursula and used during our occasional soirées has fatigue as I discovered when I took off the canvas part to shake it out. The flexible parts of the frame which hold the metal rods have become brittle due to age and have broken so I think the chair is now unsafe. I don’t think the chair is particularly young anyway.

Another weekend has crept up on me so we have more customers in the camping. It seemed rather quiet and forlorn last Sunday once everyone left. There are people in M4-M6 with young children who are regularly visiting the kittens on J&E’s decking. I noticed too that the Big Fluffy Cat and George have been helping themselves to the food destined for the kittens. There cannot have been much left as I filled the bowl this morning.

Maria told me that Georgia had suggested I might like to occupy the large room in the reception block from September through the winter. The room can sleep three and has a bathroom and shower ensuite. I thanked her for the kind offer but said I was happy in my van which is quick and easy to heat. Those rooms are FREEZING in winter with tiled floors and concrete walls. I warned Maria about them when she was talking about coming to stay during the winter at one point.

Another call came from Georgia earlier asking if I’d seen her cat which had been absent for several days. I said I’d not seen her for quite a while as she tends not to hang around this part of the camping.

It’s been a nice day with plenty of sunshine and also a little wind.

Sunny and warm with an accompanying wind.
