The Earthquake stayed outside last night and was quiet so it was not her scratching that woke me, just the alarm. Furthermore, I didn’t get me feet licked just Skinny’s paws on the side of my bed.

It was a little after 05:15 today so the moon was higher in the sky and appeared to be fuller.

Slightly later and higher in the sky

I didn’t lose any dogs and there were few excitements other than the parrot fishermen who were setting their traps. Following a small amount of barking, the dogs contented themselves with being petted by the men before moving on to the final biscuit distribution location nearby.

I have to report that now it is possible to travel to and from Grammeno to Paleochora on tarmac all the way! The westbound carriageway by the rock was completed yesterday evening as was the junction with the road up through the houses. It was so much nicer not to have to ride through dust and potholes as well as easier and quicker too. A made-up road surface has a lot less friction than gravel or sand.

My trip into Paleochora was earlier so I was back and in the sea for a thirty-minute swim at 07:45. Manos, one of the new intake for this year, was down on the foreshore fishing. The sea was flat calm and I later noticed that the cups on my anemometer were not moving at all. I swam to the island off the west side of the Promontory and back. An extremely leisurely swim I may add.

The dogs were out and fed before 08:30 but it wasn’t long before the day warmed up and they fell asleep. I’ve been busy again today mostly with IT-related activities. Installing Office on the EG receptionist laptop which I’m told had to be reinstalled. Interesting that people start these things on their own then come to me to sort out the problems they created by doing things wrong and not asking in the first place.

I’ve discovered serious limitations with the IOS version of TeamViewer. I have to login to the app each time I use it, I can have only one session at a time and that session quits soon after I move away to do something else. OS X I can have several sessions which will remain connected all day long. This is very handy when working on several machines particularly doing updates where you’re back and forth.

The solution I shall try is to use my old Windows desktop via VNC to run the Windows desktop TeamViewer application. Effectively I’m remote-controlling a machine which is running several other remote-control sessions.

Janne and Erica went with their different, red car to Paleochora returning with 40kg of cat food. I got Heike to give me one bag of each so that I can swap them around a little. I was decanting the food into plastic containers which were stacked on top of each other. That was until one of the kittens sent them to the ground spilling some of the contents of one onto the floor. They will need to clear all that up before there’s anymore food dispensed.

Erica and I examined the smallest of Maria’s kittens and concluded it and the small black should visit the vet who should be coming to Paleochora on Friday. I think Erica is probably up for taking them both in to see the vet.

The electric fan heater, used to heat the van in the winter, was put away for the summer quite a while ago. The thermostatic switch system I rigged up for the winter has been adjusted slightly and now runs the fan. It should turn on the fan when the temperature exceeds 25C and turn it back off again when it’s below 24C. It may require further adjustment in the light of experience.

Slightly warmer than yesterday but not the hottest of the year. It is forecast to be cooler for the next few days with temperatures below 30C
