New Transmitter

Fido wanted to go out at 04:00 which was pleasing as I’d chucked him out at bedtime. I impressed upon him the requirement to return quickly and he did.

The sky was cloudy and there were a couple of dampness events of a very minor nature lasting literally seconds. There were no tents, only one van from the Netherlands which the dogs ignored other than to sniff around it a little. As usual, the river was flowing across the beach but more slowly as it has been slowed down by the sea so is much wider than before. Skinny went for a paddle and so did Obi.

The sky still looked a little fierce so we kept going and completed the second lap with haste to return to the van just before seven. I encouraged Charlie to keep up this morning.

I amused my head with Elevate and Balance before taking Isabella out on her own. It was sunny and becoming warm so no hardship to go out again. She chased her ball which was a primary objective.

Kirsti came to find me and we put on a wash. The ginger and white pussy took up her position on top of the box of loo paper where she stayed until I extracted her in the late afternoon.

ACS called to say they had a package and the guy handed me a long box which was for Christian in CBV. I took it to them but only just in time as they were near the point of leaving. They’d been told by DHL that the package had been returned to Iraklion so it shows what they know considering ACS is their sub-contractor! We said goodbye and they are off to Elafonissi via the mountain track. They have a massive 4×4 so it needs exercise.

I received a call from an organiser in Cyprus who wishes to bring a party of 100 to Grammeno in July. He insisted on asking me questions which I wasn’t really equipped to answer but I eventually persuaded him that Georgia could answer his queries much better than I.

Another call from USA asking if a group of up to twelve could come on Saturday to stay until Sunday or even Monday. The USA call was from the US Navy base at Souda. Two couples plan to bring up to eight children for the weekend. We will sort out the accommodation once they arrive around 10:00 tomorrow. The adults plan to stay in cabins but the children want tents. The US Navy customers are regulars…

I ran around organising things seeing that we had plenty of blankets available and so on. I also cleaned out the shower and loo that I frequent as some horrid person had left it in a very dirty condition. It needed a good clean anyway. I got the scrubber and squeegee thing and made a job of it. Michaelis was in the process of removing the wooden panels from around the poo tank nearby. I’m told it’s going to be upgraded with a small building and all mod-cons. Kirsti later confessed that Jorma had taken Siiri in there the previous day and then not cleaned up properly after himself. I reckon he took Siiri back then forgot about cleaning up the mess.

With all this walking about my exercise circles had moved not one little bit as my watch was on the charger. I removed it and had a little sit down in the sun. This was followed by a little more wandering around as I didn’t want to go out as I was expecting a package from UPS which duly arrived around 16:30. It contained my new SportDog transmitter which will do all of the things I want it to. Now I have six dogs on one transmitter and Fido on the other. Fido needs summoning every once in a Blue Moon so I’ll be able to control six dogs without having to select with buttons or even look at what I’m doing.
Toggle switch up:
Isabella = #1, Skinny = #2, Obi = #3 (side button)
Toggle switch down:
Charlie = #1, Oskar = #2, Luis =#3

All without having to take my eyes off the dogs or even remove the transmitter from my pocket.

I had DDs to process which preceded a walk for Isabella and Skinny at sunset. All very pleasant.

Sunny and warm after a slightly cool beginning.
