Cool Breeze

I tried out one of the Balance goodnight stories at bedtime. Ofosu was only just getting going and I lost interest almost immediately. It definitely worked for me!

I had a fan on during the night to keep my sleeping temperature down. The thought of sleeping in a hammock at present doesn’t excite me. We were out a little earlier so made it to Plakaki and back before the sun came over the mountain. I deposited some rubbish picked up along the beach and noticed the motorbike, there for a couple of weeks, had gone. Before going back to the camping, we went along a little further to collect rubbish on the rocks at the end of Grammeno Beach. The thought of walking down and over the rocks again might be a step too far.

We went back and I came out shortly after with the other two and we walked around once more discovering a tent by the Big Rock as we passed on the way to the beach. I briefly contemplated the sea but it was blowing slightly and Isabella had little appetite for bathing today so I gave it a miss. We went back so I could exercise my brain and generally get myself together. This situation dragged on a little while until I released and fed all the dogs around ten.

I’d sent a message to Fanis thanking him for his help on Sunday and for bringing me all the way back. He replied that he’d been unwell since Wednesday with a temperature of up to 39.40ºC. He says he has not tested positive for Covid as yet. I informed Tonya that I wouldn’t be circulating in the camping for the next few days just incase I’d picked up whichever virus or other malware Fanis has contracted. I see little value in wiping out half the staff. Maria brought me a lovely takeout meal from the kitchen which was enough for two and consisted of peas, potatoes and those round things I can never remember. Very good it was too.

A great advance of the day was the reinstatement of the southern SunBlocker but in a vertical orientation as some of the elastic attachments went walkabout when it was very windy the morning I took it down. Vertical is fine just that there’s less space and no sensible way to fix it in position.

Another great advance was the installation of the floor fan which now provides a steady flow of cool air. This is a doggy favourite so there was no shortage of participants. It needed a good clean out after last summer and the winter in the open storeroom. It is working well as the pump was replaced last summer after failing to join in after the winter.

A nice person from the eye man wrote suggesting that I could attend the good doctor today, didn’t require an appointment but might wait less time after 13:00. I replied that I was self-isolating as I felt it unkind to contaminate the good doctor should I be infectious. I will endeavour to attend next week if he comes to Paleochora.

My mangled finger is beginning to participate once more and is managing ’w’, ’s’ and ’x’ again. Not quite touch typing but much quicker than recent days.

I sneaked out to the shower and the loo so enjoyed a very pleasant few minutes under a gentle, warm interlude but will be happy when my head can go under the shower once more. Should I fail to develop Fanis’ lurgy, I plan to get myself to Kantanos on Monday to have my stitches out.

Some breeze to begin but very calm, warm and sunny all day.
