Washing Day

I woke up to find myself feeling a lot better then the day before. I was soon out of bed leading the assault on The Promontory. The moon is getting lower each day and the sky was clear with a reasonable collection of stars. Someone has fixed the street lights along the beach road but I’m sure they will fail again the next time it rains hard.

I was not paying proper attention to the whereabouts of Luis so there was a short wait whilst I dragged him back from Grammeno Beach where his little amber light was flashing gaily.

He made it most of the way to Plakaki and arrived in good time for biscuits at the high rock at the end of The Promontory. We didn’t cross the rocks or the causeway until I returned with the Girls where we met Andreas and his dogs.

I rode into Paleochora over Panorama with a stop for a loaf at Anatoli. I decided to visit Petrakis tomorrow morning. I noticed OTE, the state phone company, had finally removed the pole which found itself near the middle of the cycle way. I saw the technician there yesterday, planting its replacement and transferring the cables.

My first task, when back, was to empty the washing machine and to get my own washing ready. Frank, the guy with the horse box beat me to it and took the second slot. I was the third and Éric, the French guy the fourth. Kirsti put hers in on the timer last night.

I didn’t seem to stop for quite a while as there was one departure so money to collect. A gas cylinder to pick up from Johannes, dogs to feed and metal to collect from Polychronis’ delivery. We now have the metal for the battery caddy as well as the reinforcing rods to replace the weather station to it’s former location just two years ago this month.

Jorma was busy with his angle grinder cutting up the metal ready to weld it tomorrow. He’s moving on very quickly with the project so I need to keep up!

Éric hung up his washing then paid for his stay as he wants to leave promptly tomorrow. He’s investigating where he’d like to finally lay his hat so to speak.

I’ve folded up most of my laundry and made my bed, so clean sheets tonight! It will take a little while to get used to them.

Not quite as warm as yesterday but a good day to dry laundry! Tomorrow should be sunny but also a little windy. From then, the weather will become unsettled for a week or so.
