No Rain!

I watched the final episode of season one of Hotel Portofino followed by the pilot episode of Lewis as I seemed to have started on episode one. I’ve seen the series before but it’s good stuff and I’ve forgotten much of the plot detail anyway.

The evening was chilly so the fan heater was churning away. I wasn’t sparing with the heat as I could be pretty sure of sunshine to charge the battery on Saturday. I was expecting more wind during the night and early morning. Happily, it was quite calm once we finally made it out for our walk.

The English couple in the elderly camper were parked in the beach car park with a rental car alongside. I couldn’t imagine they were all in the van so the daughter and spouse were under canvas. The night had been generally cold, wet and windy so I didn’t envy them. The dogs discovered the tent and probably helped with any washing up.

It was starting to get light as we left the Promontory so I didn’t need my torch after that. Luis was game and kept up well so was with all the others at Plakaki. Isabella and Sasha disappeared and returned with something horrible dredged out of the sea by the look of it. They gained many potential friends however Isabella was firmly in control and she’s not known for her propensity to share. Eventually, Isabella and Sasha caught everyone up with Oskar bringing up the rear a little later.

The girls came out for the second walk in less windy and warmer conditions. I then fed the pussies and rode into Paleochora as I needed bread and something to eat later. The bread was easy and I came away from the supermarket having ordered 40kg of dog food but then realised I’d not actually purchased anything particular for myself.

I got on with putting the DDs together and making tea for myself. I went to collect the cabbage from the kitchen and was waylaid by Michael and then Ulli who wanted to pay for his extra night and electricity. I learned that he’d come to charge his LFP batteries but, for some reason, the power system wasn’t working as expected. He [insisted on] showing me his YouTube channel and some of his videos. Apparently, some of his followers were concerned that he’d not posted for a couple of days. Later, I watched the video he made of his trip from Kissamos to Paleochora through the gorge and the tunnel. Some YouTube contributors go to great lengths to produce high-quality content however others are less fastidious. Ulli falls into the latter category as his material is warts and all. Nevertheless, he has plenty of followers and it does the job.

A couple with young children called earlier to ensure the camping was open and to ask for directions. They arrived and I was showing them the camping to find a suitable spot. I let them park in front of the exit barrier so as to guarantee someone would want to go out. It was quite a large caravan/car combination so didn’t feel he’d wish to be shunting it around too much. As expected, Ulli chose that moment to leave the camping which shortened our tour. They are catching the ferry from Kissamos on Wednesday.

I returned to the dogs and my cold tea then sat in the sun to relax for a while. The rest of the day shimmied by until I went for a shower and started to process the DDs.

Toni alerted me to more arrivals who turned out to be the daughter and son-in-law from the Promontory tent. They each had a cat or two in their arms as they were not far from my gate. They took Ξ6 which they would have been better off doing twenty-four hours earlier to avoid the horrid weather. They will remain one/two nights so I will add them to the parental paperwork rather than create a new customer.

The dogs are now fed, my spuds are cooked so it only remains for me to put them back on with some frozen peas and sliced leeks for company. Georgia threatened to return today however, so far, there’s no sign of her.

A windy and cold night followed by a calmer, milder morning which turned sunny by the afternoon. Cooler than the previous day. Hopefully, the trend will be for warmer weather from tomorrow onwards.
