Mass Exodus

M Poirot entertained me with a difficult matter involving smuggled diamonds and student accommodation. There were plenty of murders so fortunately, he managed to find the culprit whilst some potential victims survived. Japp’s wife was away so he was endeavouring to look after himself so readily accepted Poirot’s offer of bed and board. That is, until he discovered the culinary gulf which existed between them as well as the mysteries of the bidet in the bathroom. He found this useful when he needed to cool off due to the heating in his room. He finally invited Poirot to faggots, mushy peas and mashed spud so you can imagine how well this went down. This excitement was followed by an online class is MIG welding which was very interesting and potentially useful. The remainder of the night involved sleeping.

The two girls were outside from early on and they stayed there until we were ready to go. It’s a lot easier to organise the others without having Sasha and Isabella fighting on the seat together or either of them trying to lick my ears as I struggle to put the collar on another dog.

There were no other visible humans or vehicles around so we had it all to ourselves. Luis kept up although was distracted by something more important than biscuits before we crossed the rocks. I was surprised to see him in front of me shortly after, almost galloping off into the darkness. Oskar and Luis arrived at the next stop before Obi.

Luis has worked out that the passage of the rocks and the causeway is an unnecessary diversion so it’s easier to lag behind and cut through to the next biscuit location which is nearby.

The wind was from the southwest and required a hood as it wasn’t that warm. It was not difficult to walk from the Promontory to Plakaki without using a torch and we walked back mostly on the beach. By which time it was light enough to turn off the dogs. I think we could manage to get up a marginally earlier since it’s getting a little lighter each day. It’s a bit of a pain have less time in the morning.

Skinny has now become a regular attendee of the girls’ walk. Today I had a spare ball which means Isabella has less control of the ball. Once she realises I have it, I have only to put my hand into the pocket of my hoodie and she drops her ball. My ball never even saw the light of day.

I rode with a following wind into Paleochora on fully-charged batteries so the journey out was quick and almost effortless. The return was less so. There was but one stop at the bakery.

I had Richard to see off so went straight down to say goodbye but there was no sign of life so I charged his English neighbours with the task of alerting my when we was ready to leave. It turned out he left much later than planned. Not that he was on a mission to go anywhere important. Two other departures were the two who arrived almost together two evenings ago: the ‘Bulgarians’ and the Luxemburger. They’d said they’d stay only two nights anyway. My tea was a little cool by the time I got to drink it.

There was a call from the grow-it company as they’d not received payment for my order. This was because I’d not received the payment link. The guy was very efficient and so I was totally amazed at how customer-centric they are. Other experience of online shopping has been less than easy.

I later received an email from ACS who are delivering all of my other welding-related purchases despite the fact there are three different suppliers. Hopefully, they might even arrive at the same time.

Later, Manos announced the arrival of a German couple who were standing not far away. They’d tried to call unsuccessfully but it was something to do with their phone as I was unable to call them back even. They paid for one night so will probably disappear tomorrow. Their daughter is on a trip to Brighton at present.

I’d done quite a bit of walking around by this time and the morning had gone so I returned to the dogs to allow the afternoon sunshine to have its way. I searched for a welding apron online as I’d not bought the one on offer with the gloves. In light of the previous evening’s session on welding basics, an apron is recommended over welding in shorts!

The wind got up as the day passed and the temperature went down. Not that it deters the girls and Oskar who are still out on the decking. The girls are jointly chewing a stick. They really do get on very well so long as Sasha remembers her place. Sasha is dominant in her own way especially towards the smaller dogs however Oskar takes no stick from either of them and even plays chase with them when the urge takes him.

The southwesterly wind freshened as the day passed with a distinct feeling of coolness when outside. There were a few insignificant spots of rain at one point. Tomorrow is going to be a little cooler.
