Sasha was outside so no need to get up to let her out. I was awake around four and some were up for going out then.

We were walking across the beach car park and were greeted by a man with a torch. It transpired they’d been celebrating some important event as there were still three cars parked up. Some tents were on the beach as well as other party paraphernalia. Sasha and Luis did a little barking which I explained as they don’t normally see anyone moving around the Promontory at this hour. The guy replied that we’re in Greece to which I replied that I’m never surprised when in Greece! The revellers were in their tents so probably didn’t notice us passing even though some scavengers were hoping for leftovers from the BBQ.

We went on the all-in extended walk which took in the Plakaki rocks on the second visit. No sign of the man or his dog. Even Luis managed to turn up for biscuits!

Back to the Promontory in the daylight, round over the rocks again and thence to the camping. The boys were keen to get inside for a well-earned snooze and Luis was out for the count much of the morning.

I rode to Paleochora and was surprised to find Petrakis open. Had I have known, I’d have done my shopping then just to make it worthwhile for them coming in on a Sunday. Usually, the store is open on a Sunday either side of Easter but that’s not until 16th. I rode back passing a couple of runners of which one was Petrakis Jr making good headway. He had enough breath to say good morning.

I relaxed my brain then exercised it before releasing the dogs and feeding them. Toni called me away from making the DDs to unlock T2 but I needed to pick up a piece of chicken from the Customer Kitchen freezer anyway. They were re thatching the shading above the cabin.

I eventually got to sit in the sun and drink some tea but didn’t linger too long as I had other things to do. These included checking T5, emptying the rubbish bins, collecting up scrap metal around the compound and elsewhere. Taking some rejected scrap from behind the big bin to exchange for some other pieces I’d spied earlier. I cut up an old groundsheet to cover my bike as the bike cover is now in the rubbish. I collected up the poo as well as some of the Sasha debris from her destructive phase. There is still more to do but she is still chewing a little so it’s and ongoing situation.

It was finally time to process the DD’s and swap the chickpeas for the doggy rice. There are not enough chickpeas so I did some black eyed beans as well. These require different cooking so couldn’t go in together.

A female German walker arrived shortly before feeding time so I’ve put her in place of the Americans who presumably left sometime during the day. She tells me she’ll stay in the camping and then catch the bus to Chania from Paleochora.

The dogs are now fed and fussing around. Janne and Erica have made it as far as Athens and their flights are on time. I’d better make sure their electricity is on before they arrive. Something I intended doing earlier on.

The morning was warm with only a light wind. It has been sunny most of the day and was warmer than yesterday. Things will change tomorrow late afternoon and Tuesday promises to be wet but mostly during the night and early morning. The French couple are going to leave and return later so they say. Fair weather campers! I don’t know where they expect to find better weather but whatever!
